Even with his weakness to lightning, in his prime, Vader was at 80% of Palpatine's power , as stated by George Lucas. He did not believe he could beat the emperor in a straight fight, not that he had 0 chance, it's just that he deemed it too far against his favor. That's why he needed Luke. But according to Palpatine , Vader could have reached and even surpassed him, even in the suit, but his problem was a psychological one , not a lack of power. Anakin never reached his full potential as a jedi and he never reached it as a sith, in both cases he was handicapping himself. That's why Palpatine started to view him as the perfect tool , Vader was stronger than everyone else but not strong enough to take his place as the master.

lol the only reason Anakin/Vader couldn't beat Sidious was because of the suit that Sidious built for Darth Vader... Sidious purposely made Anakins suit weak to force lightning so he could keep Dark Vader in line.... Vader would have destroyed Sidious if he didn't get burnt to a crisp versus obi wan

To my understanding, If Anakin hadn’t been massively injured during his fight with Obi-wan, he’d probably eventually be able to defeat Palpatine. But he was cut down to a shadow of his former self.

Anakin was the most powerful to ever live.. he was heading in that direction anyway.. he was alrdy extremely powerful right before he joined the dark side.. if lets say anakin never fought obi wan and lost his limbs, gave into the dark side and kept training.. he would be the most powerful star wars character... but because he did fight obi wan and lost his limbs and was in constant pain, the suit also slowed him down.. he would have lost to palpatine in a fight. But anakin like i said earlier would have won.

So I'm not a star wars fan although as I've these past few weeks I've been watching the darth Vader comics i did see the revenge of the sith movie long time ago so i guess I'm slowly becoming a fan. And it's cool to think that i guess technical anakin was still the chosen one even after all the things he's done as darth Vader for what 30 years or something like that i think that's cool.

Anakin would've been able to defeat Palpatine if he had beat Obi-Wan on Mustafar. The Sith "Rule of Two" is designed for the Apprentice to defeat the Master eventually....which Vader did end up accomplishing in his redemption.

I watched that fan video before I was a big Star Wars fan. When The Rise of Skywalker came out, I became a big fan. Now I've been coming back to this amazing video. I've watched it a few times and it's just an amazing video. The music was amazing and made the video so emotional. I love how it told the story of Anakin and how he fell to become Darth Vader. The video made me want to watch The Clone Wars now.

To answer your question Anakin was MUCH less powerful as post Mustafar battle Vader, because with his connection to the force, it is based on your organic flesh and blood because of the midichlorians. Lucas himself stated that had Anakin not been critically wounded by Obiwan, Anakin, and later Vader after his turn, had the potential to be far more powerful than Palpatine/Sidious. But like all force sensitive individuals, it isn't only your midichlorian count but also your work ethic and focus and training that truly harnesses your power. I believe that if Anakin had not been wounded so bad, he would have exceeded Sidious by age 30 perhaps. He was around 22 to 24 when he became Vader. By the time of Return of the Jedi, putting Anakin about 45 to 47, he would have totally dwarfed Sidious in power

While one of the imperial guards dies and Vader is merely fighting for survival but Palpatine is dancing around cutting down dozens of them and even killing the queen. He's considered one of if not the most powerful Sith ever. I totally agree with ur thoughts on Disney's handling of Star Wars lol

from what i've gathered, Vader was OP. He had a hulk like mechanic where the angrier he got, the more powerful he became. So it was only speculated that he could only beat the emperor when he was mad enough. which palpatine intially wanted. But Papatine was far stronger in th'e dark side than vader.

My opinion and take on it as another huge Star Wars fan ---> During Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine would have been at a similar level to Mace Windu and Yoda in overall power. I believe in star wars cannon, Mace Windu is supposedly the most skilled lightsaber duelist alive but not the most powerful all-round Jedi; this of course, famously being Yoda. Palpatine did genuinely loose his duel to Mace Windu for this reason, (George Lucas Confirmed this) but his force powers were still much greater than Mace's; Perhaps on par with Yoda. I also thought he lost on purpose to manipulate Anakin but If you watch that scene again you will notice he looses some time before Anakin even walks in. Back to Palpatine & Vader though - Palpatine knew that Anakin was eventually going to be more powerful than him as he was the chosen one and that he would subsequently be unable to control him. That's why Palpatine restricted Vaders powers in the way that he did. At least that what I understand to be the case. During Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine would have almost definitely been more powerful but I suspect Vader probably overtook him in power somewhere around the time of Rogue One. The only reason Vader didnt overthrow the Emperor then was because Palpatine was much smarter and more manipulating. On a side note: Anakin and Obi Wan are clearly quite evenly matched in Revenge of the Sith and Yoda states to Obi Wan that he is no match for Palpatine (This is why Yoda goes in his place). This suggests then, that Anakin would also be outmatched, at least during Revenge of the Sith era. Moving on to A New Hope on wards era - Vader states during the battle with Luke at Bespin that he wants him and Luke to rule the galaxy as father & son, implying that he was confident he and Luke could defeat Palpatine together. I Suspect Vader would have stood a fair chance against Palpatine alone at this point but he was too afraid to try for a number of reasons, probably largely due to being manipulated and the fact that the Emperor was always heavily guarded. In star wars legends i believe Vader tries and fails to overthrow Palpatine on several occasions but mostly because he was outsmarted, not necessarily outfought. Despite his immense power, to his detriment; Vader/Anakin was never particularly smart. Evidence of this can be seen in how easily manipulated and easily lead that he was by Palpatine. He is also prone to making rash and unwise decisions as seen several times throughout the movies, particularly in his first fight against Count Dooku and also in Star Wars legends where he disappoints Palpatine on several occasions.

VADER would win, he survived without his suit working for 5 minutes (i think), even moved it when a mad scientist shut down his suit. He even created force lighting with his suit once. The more angry he gets the stronger he becomes. Palpatine would make it worth a battle but he does get scared in some scenerios...

Vader would lose to Palpatine. When you lose your limbs and are burnt alive you losing alot of living tissue that connects you to the force. "the force flows through all living things." When he's more machine now then man, it means he lost alot of his connection to the force.

Anikan killed Obi-wan because he hated him. But everyone did. The Jedi Council always Gave Obiwan assignments not because they thought he was best, but because they wanted out because he was always being a dick. Obiwan was going Jerry Sandusky on the Padawan and Anikan was one of his victims. Jar JAr Binks knew and he didn't tell anybody.

The main events that turned Anakin to Vader were his mother's death and the fear of Padme's death. Based on the films, the only thing Qui-Gon's death was to make him Obi's padawan. I really don't think his death made a major impact on him, BUT it also may have started his fear of death in general and loss which ultimately led him to become Vader.

P.S. I think that the last 3 films felt rushed. Ep 4-6 presented Luke from not knowing what his capabilities were or of his parentage and then we have the last 3 episodes having Rey who apparently needs no training??!! Luke had 2 movies focused on him training with Obi and Yoda.... what has Rey had that's even close?

Three people that he couldn’t let go of that made him into Darth Vader were; Shmi, Ahsoka and Padme. Qui-Gon is more influential in Obi-Wan’s story not Anakin’s really.

He could have beaten Mace but he needed Anakin to think he saved him and to betray Windu to complete Anakins fall to the Dark Side Sidous was slightly below Mace in lightsaber skill but he was vastly beyond mace in his force powers. Sidous used Sith Scream to disorient all the jedi earlier in the scene he has alot up his sleeve power wise.

When you examine Palpatines Dialog in comparison to the other masters and Jedi you realize that he was a master of sarcasm. No other Jedi could match the depth or sustained sarcasm that his dialog line could bring. In the Book Splinter in the Eye a verbal exchange between Palpatine and Yoda in his first dual they had was so sarcastic that it wrecked Master Yoda's Speech Syntax centers. That is correct, Yoda used to talk like an English Lord until he encountered Palpatines Sarcasm Blast. Palpatines Sarcasm is said to have the effect of making one believe that it is true that ones Mother did not want them and father was indeed a Garbage Scow Captain Class 3. The Sand People took Palpatines speeder one day. When Palpatine tracked him them down they formed up to attack in a phalanx in which he spake to them "You look like some kind of bullshit Chorus Line" and to this day the comment has so shamed the Sand People into walking single file as to not be called a "Deformed Country Line Dancing Squad" ever again.

It says in the comics that Vader’s suit was so uncomfortable and irritating that’s why he was angry and mad all the time. And of course that leads to hate and hate leads you more to the dark side. Vader would win because sure Palpatine has dope force powers but Vader is consistently fueling his hatred so that makes him stronger it doesn’t matter if he has no limbs.

Yes it is compelling the beauty about Star Wars which is the story of Darth Vader as stated by George Lucas is that we can all give into temptation. We can all fall whether it’s by corruption or desperation but also that we can all be redeemed if we truly want to be. It’s about love, desperation that turns into hatred and the love others have for us breaking through enough for us to take back control and redeem ourselves and be the person all those who love you and know you believe you can be. It’s about both the weakest and lowest moments of humanity as well as the strongest.
