The Dream-Evan dynamic is amazing, because it's really like mental illness. It's glamorised in the media, it's sometimes seen as desirable to be moody/broody/dark/tortured, while in reality when you're experiencing it, it's a living hell. And Brennan and Erika show this perfectly, how terrible Evan life's is, and how Dream who never had to struggle her whole life cannot understand, and only sees the surface that seems desirable. And that actually ties in to one of the worst aspects of evil (including mental illness): on the surface, it's desirable, it's fascinating, it draws you in, it really seems to be worth it. But once you're in, you realise how false these appearances were and how actually horrible it is.
