i knew a kid in high school with Chosen type energy. i once made a hitchhiker’s guide joke, kind of to myself, and he said “hah. making a hitchhiker’s guide joke in 2015? really?” the room was silent as no one else in our small class had read or seen hitchhiker’s guide and didn’t understand why this dude was attempting to roast me for murmuring “42” after the teacher asked for our interpretation of the meaning of life. he also chuckled as though i were a simple fool compared to his galaxy brain energy because i said “i don’t play first-person shooters often, but i really like borderlands”. i really did try to become friends with the kid. i think he was just too powerful…

The chosen is the high functioning autism king we needed. I like the depiction of The Chosen being “weird” and not getting social cues, but still being a good, nice, dude. I feel like the punchline for that kind of character is always either they’re an incel or have “school shooter vibes” and that is very hurtful, but the punchlines for The Chosen are just that he says shit off the cuff and doesn’t abide by societal standards.
