Maybe it’s because their characters are so distinct and bounce off of each other so well, and they’ve had these characters for a while now. I like to think that their characters are just so weird that other kids won’t hang out with them, and through these two’s rivalry they realize that they actually get along and like hanging out. And of course since Shayne and Damien are actually good friends, that shows through well and easily.
