The Chris Hedges Report: Hip hop, censorship, and Palestinian resistance

Legendary UK-based hip-hop artist and activist Kareem Dennis, aka Lowkey, uses his considerable talents as a musician to pay homage to the voices and struggles of the oppressed, from the plight of migrants that have fled to Europe, to the suffering of Iraqis and Palestinians in the Middle East, to the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017. His work, including his single "Voices of The Voiceless" with Immortal Technique, and "Long Live Palestine" (also known as "Tears to Laughter"), are hip-hop classics. His song "Terrorist?", a searing condemnation of the hypocrisy of Washington and Western governments, was swiftly censored by many digital media platforms.
He's long been a target of the Israel lobby in both UK and the United States, which blocked him from receiving a visa to perform. The University of Cambridge postponed his March 8 Zoom talk, "The Israel Lobby's War Against You." The British press has engaged in an ongoing smear campaign against the rapper, and there is an organized effort to get his music removed from Spotify.
Chris Hedges interviews writers, intellectuals, and dissidents, many banished from the mainstream, in his half-hour show, The Chris Hedges Report. Most offensive thing I heard was from Jacob Rees Mogg who said ‘ you would have thought those inside Grenfell would have left the building?’ I lived in a tower block when my children were young, if you live above the 3rd floor you’re told by the fire department you must stay put & wait to be rescued. That without power lifts won’t work & you’re at high risk of being crushed on staircases in the dark, especially children. I was told that fire couldn’t spread from flat to flat because of the way they were built??? So had I been unfortunate enough to have lived in Grenfell I would have stayed put as I’d been advised by the fire brigade & waited for rescue!!!

Like Chris, taking his lead, I will also thank the TRNN team, but that now seems to include the great Chris Hedges, or just Chris for short, and also very much appreciate the words of the guest, Kareem. Chris posed good Q's and Kareem responded very excellently ; and, he definitely seems to be, surely is, very sincere, which is great. I don't have any doubt whatsoever that Kareem is definitely sincere. The Truth is what is needed. Yes, Palestine remains a VERY important subject. It is like incredible that this Israeli govt, which, imo, should have never been established to begin with, has been acting very genocidal against Palestine/Palestinians since 1948. I was born in March 1957 so just turned 65 March 25th, this year. 65 - 48 = 7 years, so this genocidal conduct against the Palestinians has been ongoing for 72 or so years. That is incredible, and Washington is the strongest supporter of this crime ; among foreign supporters, that is. There are other foreign supporters, including Canada, where I have live for many years, but Washington seems to be the worst of the bunch. And these govts will preach about the Ru.-Ukraine situation, without doing anything good for Palestine and its population. Incredible!
