good video as usual. one of the funniest things about the "studio interference" point he made was that Sony hired people with a horrible track record as it was. the writers (and the director as well i think but i'm not too sure) had made Power Rangers 2015, Gods Of Egypt, and fucking Morbius back in 2022. i have no doubt that Sony made the movie worse, that's basically all they do, but acting like the original product was gonna be this surprise hit is pretty disingenuous.

I have a few thoughts on this. I don't think anyone, including Chris, is saying that negative/constructive criticism isn't necessary. As someone who's now working in the film industry, Chris has made a personal decision to not harp on negativity because he's not only sick of it but also finds it a bit crass to rag on his compatriots. It's not like he's telling everyone else to stop with the negativity. If it matters that much to you, make your own video essay about why you think Madame Web sucks. Nobody's stopping you. Having made that policy years ago, it should be a safe assumption that if Chris doesn't have anything to say about a movie, it's probably because he didn't think it was good. Besides, even if Chris didn't make this rule for himself, what's the point of dogpiling any further on Madame Web? It's been pretty universally panned, so what else is there to say at this point? There's beating a dead horse, and then there's beating a decomposing horse. One quick aside; a lot of people have been comparing this to James Rolfe's decision to not see and subsequently review the 2016 Ghostbusters, and while that's a fair comparison, it's also very reminiscent of the flak Paul Mooney got in 2006 when he decided that he no longer wanted to use the N-word in his stand-up routine. He caught a lot of outrage for that too, and it was no less stupid than what Chris is getting now.

This right here. It's weird how few people understand this. He wants to keep the negativity off of his own channel. There's this weird narrative that he's dishonest now, but it should speak volumes when he doesn't make a review of something. Plus, even when he likes something enough to make a review, he still offers constructive criticism.

So what’s the point of his video? Why does Chris need to make that video in the first place? Why does he need to tell us that it’s hard to make a film? It’s not just the studio that don’t care, but also the filmmakers don’t either. Stuckmann needs to understand that we are gonna have an opinion no matter how hard anyone makes a movie

iv not watched Chris's video but even if thats the case it started before any film makes got to be apart of the movie. NO one wanted Madam webb no one asked for it an no one wanted to see it. so already they studio is starting on the wrong foot with having people "who already wrote bad movies" write a movie no one was asking for so right out of the gate its starting bad. while hes def right and studios can ruin movies i dont think this is one of those cases. this movie was rotten to the core way beyond what anyone could have fixed or messed up more. my personal biggest issues was nothing happens in the movie its just boring. and i dont think any amount of editing could change that.

I think the reason people are annoyed is because what he is doing is refusing to be honest anymore. It doesn't matter whether you agree with his reasoning, by saying he won't review movies negatively, it means he isn't being honest in his reviews. Because if there is a movie he thought was bad, he won't say it. And now if he reviews something and genuinely didn't like it, you won't know. So whether you agree with his stance or not, it means that from now on you will not know whether he is being truthful in his reviews, and then what's the point of watching him at all if you can't believe what he says?
@Websthecavespider8 ай бұрын
Yeah we need criticism like I know where he's coming from you know not wanting to be negative all the time but how do these people learn from their mistakes if critics don't you know criticize like you're not trying to get them fired or anything you're just telling them why the movie was bad or the video game or music etc but yeah I agree lol

He’s saying there’s already people that do that, so why does he need to do it too?
@Websthecavespider8 ай бұрын
@@Angel-Otk yeah but not everyone has a million subscriber channel that gets thousands and millions of views because since he's a big name in the KZbin critic space he could possibly have directors and producers watching him and also not to mention it tells you what kind of movies you should miss or you should go see ASAP like I get his point if he was under like 100,000 subs but he's a 2 million sub channel and he gets good views (or at least used to) so he is a very important critic on KZbin and just social media in general that's why it's important for him to critique stuff

@@Websthecavespider that’s a personal problem… he can still do whatever he wants, you don’t have to be jealous of his subscriber count. I’m sure you’d do better in his place just like you think!

@@Websthecavespider And there are plenty of other channels with 1 million+ subscribers who do make negative reviews. Channels like CinemaSins and Your Movie Sucks are ALL about that. Jeremy Jahns still gives his opinion whether a movie is good or bad. If you search for a review of Madame Web, you'll find no shortage of large channels harping on it. These conversations are still happening. If Chris doesn't want to join in, he doesn't have to, and that's okay.
