It is a wonderfully thorough review of the deepest teaching that came from Vatican II through the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit from the day of Pentecost. The Spirit Jesus promised to send to guide His apostles and their successors. God is always Faithful to His promises.

Karla Butler, I have it that God is always, in uncertainty, believing, not "Faithful" as having faith and thinking reason when their inseparability and qualitative equality is kept or allowed is, in uncertainty, belief. Lumen Gentium Vatican 11 teaching, 1964, 11 got it wrong on: "... the family ... might be regarded as the domestic church...". Pope Francis has now de facto corrected that error.

The funeral Mass for a priest I attended this morning in Brisbane's Catholic Cathedral using a reading from St Paul expressed his same belief in his own case for when he had "finished the race". Why would you think the Holy Spirit would let the Council be in error to say the family is the Domestic Church? God created us male and female in His Image and meant the family to be an image of His Divine Self-Giving Love. Why do you think Jesus would spend the first 30 years of His Life in a human family if He didn’t want to sanctify and consecrate it in Person: Luke 2:51-52 “He went down with them to Nazareth and was subject to them. Mary kept all these things in her heart and pondered them. Jesus increased in wisdom and age and grace before God and men.”

You write to me: 'the Council ... say the family is the Domestic Church". "... might be regarded ...", does not mean the same as: "... is ...". Why this apparently to me vague language: "might be regarded as"? These words certainly do not mean "is".

There is a freedom of conscience. But one is obliged to seek to form one’s conscience according to the truth. If one has a malformed conscience due to one’s own willful ignorance or as a result of culpable sins (sinful habits can deform our consciences) then one can still be culpable. Conscience is not to be equated with “individual liberty and preferences.” Dr Matthew Levering has a recent book out on conscience and how it’s been misunderstood. Then Cardinal Ratzinger also spoke about this, using the example of “truly convinced” Nazi SS officers. Perhaps they were subjectively following their consciences, but this doesn’t mean they aren’t guilty for allowing their consciences to become so warped that they could no longer feel guilt/remorse for what they did/were doing.

Luke 10:16. "He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.” so yes, Jesus says no one comes to the father but through himself and here is commission to the Apostles (The Church) to carry out his mission. That same Church exists fully in the Catholic Church. So yes, if you reject the Catholic Church you reject Christ, and if you reject Christ you reject the one who sent him.
