I was introduced to The Church 30 years ago when I was a kid. I didn't have a mom and my dad desperately needed a babysitter at the last minute. The girl who usually babysat me was going to The Church concert that night and told my dad the only way she'd be willing to babysit me was if she could take me to the concert with her. I'd been a fan ever since.
@MrErickloli5 жыл бұрын
and your dad paid the ticket?
@desktopkitty5 жыл бұрын
@@MrErickloli That's an odd question. I would assume. As I mentioned he "desperately needed a babysitter at the last minute". I was in kindergarten. My mom wasn't home when I got home from kindergarten. By the time my older brother got home from school, my mom still hadn't come back home. My brother left in search for our mom. By the time my dad got home from work, I was still alone, my brother was still searching for our mom, and it was obvious to our dad that our mom had left us. Her clothes and makeup were gone. I don't think being concerned about the cost of a concert ticket was at the top of my dad's mind at the time. So it wasn't a situation where he was able to plan ahead to have a babysitter lined up for that evening. But he needed one, desperately. He probably just gave her a bunch of money, told her to keep an eye on me and ran out the door.

Amazing story. In Sydney we had an excellent band environment - you could see AC/DC, INXS, The Church, Split Enz and so many other bands at normal pubs, usually with no cover charge. Some even played at my university (very inexpensive drinks). I'm glad that you like The Church - I never tire of listening to their music.

Heyday was my 1st time hearing them. Then ever since till now. Ironically, I've been following Ian's career since the 90's. (Powderfinger, Predators) Now I get to hear two favorites at once. When Heyday came out, my oldest son brought his friends from Brooklyn, NY back to Colorado (Aspen, Snowmass) to ski. His friends were from various places in New England and I hope they planted "The Church " seeds all over those states. This new album, Man Woman Life Death Infiniti, is one of their best. Been listening all day to it.
