Hmm from how I see it the Jaegerist's and Eren aren't actually perpetuating the hate cycle, they're ending it. By this point the narrative has solidified that only 2 options exist: all of Paradise & all Eldians die or the whole world but Paradise dies. Will elaborate more in an edit if/when I remember

As someone who has always been an anime-only, I can't tell you how many times I've heard manga readers go "Attack on Titan fell off, the current arc in the manga is stupid" only for me to finally get to that part in the anime and go "What the heck were ya'll talking about?" I still remember hearing vague things from manga readers about the government uprising arc being cringe and when season 3 part 1 came out, I thought it was the best season so far. And that continued with hearing that the time spent in Marley was apparently controversial to manga readers, but I thought those episodes were not only necessary, but great. The ending could very well change that pattern, but as someone who's just been an anime-only since 2013, it's hard not to notice how consistent this pattern of "manga gets controversial, anime adaptation gets massive praise" is.

The last arc is very overhated by manga readers That said, Mappa has done an amazing job improving the rumbling arc. The animation, music, and voice acting has made the last arc more enjoyable For example, Hange's death in the manga was quite rushed but in the anime it was much more emotional It gives me hope the ending will also be elevated in the anime

A big reason you heard that is genuinely from people mad their head canons didn’t pan out/the series become more focused on politics and philosophy than just action. Now even people who liked the ending had issues with pacing and dialogue (from shitty fan translations may I add, Japanese fans liked it a lot more than those of us stuck with fan translations), but I think that’s quite an easy fix with some changes to dialogue and extending certain scenes. I liked what Isayama was going for but I just thought the execution in places was a bit sloppy, but there’s also people mad meaning wasnt spoonfed to them and came to extremely strange conclusions about what they read. Regardless even if many people still dislike it with the same way the adaptation has been handled for years I guarantee more people will appreciate it and it’ll be handled a lot better in the animes version.

I think the biggest difference of reception ‘between manga and anime’ is that the manga was month to month as the anime is a large clump of the story. If you only read a small section of the story month by month, you won’t get the same emotional feel as watching 3 or 4 episodes in a one hour special. That’s probably why the anime has done a fantastic job in bridging the gap between the many factions in AOT.

This episode was honestly the greatest thing I’ve ever watched. As someone who has been trying to get my friends to read the manga for a long time, I’m now forced to do a complete 180 just because I know for a fact the ending will be much better in the anime. Also it is pretty much confirmed that the anime will adapt the manga ending as SPOILERS…. There was a mappa behind the scenes special called 100 cameras that showed the production of part 3. In one of the clips, we see them working on the scene where Mikasa shoots a thunder spear at colossal Eren’s teeth, pretty much confirming Eren will still die.

@@WanderTheNomad One of the greatest thing about AOT, in my opinion. It is morally ambiguous. I am rooting for the alliance only after 131 (I have completed the manga), because the scene, particularly in the anime, was so gut-wrenching. Putting myself in the place of Ramzi made me realize how would Ione feel knowing he is certain to die and then get stomped. The scene is nightmare fuel.
@megamillion5852
@megamillion5852 Жыл бұрын
@@muneebhaider104 This "morally ambiguous" sentiment is something I've noticed only crops up when Eren's objective is suggested to be wrong, (hence your reply to someone ousting genocide apologists within the fandom) and I'm so tired of hearing it, because it's fundamentally untrue. Attack on Titan does not frame the brazen murder of Mikasa's parents as "morally ambiguous," nor Eren's bloodlusted response to her kidnapping. Marley's indoctrination of eldian hate is not framed as "morally ambiguous," even if they are right to hate Eldia's past atrocities. Reiner and Bertolt's destruction of Wall Maria, the sacrifices put on so many innocents, and the resulting anguish from their choices is not "morally ambiguous." Attack on Titan demonstrates that people always have their own motives, of course, but there's no ambiguity to the abject suffering of people caused by people who refuse to simply stop. It's so disheartening to hear that any amount of fans require a hint or clue to understand that Eren committing *global genocide* is wrong, as though his answer isn't just a mirror reflection of what others wanted of Paradis, making the commentary on the cycle of violence completely meaningless.

He told Reiner that he was the same as him. Eren moved from being a radical idealist to being motivated by love for his tribe. He himself didn't know what the right thing to do, that is why he allowed his loved ones to stop him. I have a theory Eren knew he was going to die and his loved ones would be the ones to end his campaign, i think he allowed it and he only fought them back because ********************************************SPOILERS********************************************* In the end the mordern world commit genocide on his race even after the brave speech older generation commander made about learning from their mistakes. You would be surprised but I wasn't, simply because HUMANS ARE VERY STUPID, FEARFUL AND SELFISH. Did Eren do the right thing? only time will tell. And father-time effing did!!!

The plane scene definitely completes Reiner's arc. But his BEST scene is still yet to come. Manga readers, y'all know what I'm talking about! SPOILERS AHEAD! . . . When Commander Armin makes the difficult decision to transform and nuke his best friend Eren, Reiner comes up with a final plan to protect his friends from both Paradis and Marley. He hides everybody inside the Armored Titan's asshole! That way, his friends are all protected while he takes the blast. Reiner's friends are all protected inside his asshole, but sadly, Reiner doesn't survive the blast. I cried so hard seeing my favourite AoT character sacrifice himself like this. As silly as it sounds, it has many layers to it. Instead of Reiner's comrades dying for/because of him (see Marcel and Marco), and instead of Reiner getting punched in the face for his failings, he finally stops all of that and protects his friends' lives with his mighty asshole! The kid who wanted to be seen as a brave hero dies in the most undignified self-sacrifice ever. Also, this was foreshadowed way back in Chapter 9, when Reiner joked about shoving swords up Titan's assholes. Turns out Titans do have assholes! I know MAPPA will give this scene the justice it deserves!

I thought the Freedom point was about him finally no longer caring, he can hear the screams of the world and feel nothing, he has achieved his true freedom, he spent his live caring about others and being told he was going to be a hero, a monster. now he finally doesn't care, no guilt, no fear, no nothing he is free from feelings that have tormented him his whole life.

It's not that I thought mapa did a bad job. I just hated that the designs of the characters weren't the same and everything looked so different and the cgi titans just looked so bad and stood out too much. It just made me sad that the finally looked like it was potentially getting shafted right at the end. Sure they got things going fantastically later but still part one just felt so weak and it's cause the fights didn't have that roller coaster vibe and intense violence as the other seasons did. I'm glad they picked that up and doubled it in part two and three.

Its genuinely kinda scary that people support floch and jeagerists terrosim and by an extension eren. I understand floch and eren being very well written characters but i cant see how they justify ramsi getting his skull crushed with cheering and calling him Lord Jeager likes he’s an irl monarch. Dont get me wrong eren has his cold moments like his speech in the paths or even floch with that very well animated scene in S4s Retrospective but i dont the whole “Eren’s a gigachad for committing genocide” especially cause 99% of them miss why he is doing it or that it bothers him.

I think you just highlighed the problem with Hange there. What she wanted is the Eternal Peace with Marley and the rest of the world, which is impossible. Don't get me wrong. She is a good leader. But she did not have the clear understanding of how the world worked. Unlike us and the peoples outside the walls who knows that conflict is everywhere even in the absence of war as long as one knows where to look, Hange does not know that. To her, the conflict between the nobles and the commoners ended when the old government was overthrown. To her, the war between Marley and Eldia ended when most of the Warriors were defeated four years ago. But guess what, both of them were not over. They never were to cease to begin with. And that is the problem here. Her lack of understanding that conflict is everywhere even in the absence of war blinded her to the fact that peace is a lie. Sure, truces and ceasefires can happened there and there. But anything can happened. Not to mention that she brought nothing to the negotiation table at all if she wanted to talk with Marley. No ones are going to agree to help or do anything for the others if they get nothing in return. So yeah, she is a quite naive to think that everyone can be reasonable and selfless without getting anything in return and that peace is eternal. Sadly, she never learned of these two lessons. If so, I think it might helped her feel a bit better from the pressures she has.

I think it’s intresting to bring up Eren painting his enemies as monsters for a long time but I don’t think that anylasis applies to the current Eren. Living in Marley seeing Reiner bertholts actions has sort of killed that mindset in Eren. In the past Eren would just have killed Marley and the world and not cared but he does actually see these people as human he just decides to do it anyways. He chooses to do evil knowing it’s evil because he has no hope for the future in believeing in peace he doesn’t think it can happen. That’s the whole point of the opening scene in the recent episode that apology was him saying he knows the crime he is commiting but has still determined to do it.

Eren’s logic is not flawed. You need people like this when times get tough and brutal. Eren has a will and inner justice that goes beyond most other people’s, which makes y’all perceive him as evil and awful and all this other stuff that doesn’t actually make sense when you consider the circumstances he’s put under. Whilst the scenery with the kidnappers is brutal, it is just and right. Animals are those whom would subject a child to SA. That is not “flawed”, that is just, Eren is simply somebody who has the mental and internal strength to inflict that justice, unlike most people in this world who would cower in that situation, even as adults. Eren is not “flawed” for calling Bertholdt and Reiner “non human”, I’m sure you’d feel the same if you were looking your mothers killers in the eyes. He may be wrong, but to judge somebody feeling the emotion of staring their mothers murders in the eyes. Come on man. I feel people need more hardship in life to truly understand what Eren is seeing. This story is very realistic, it is not Naruto, it is not a world where everything can be talked out. The world of aot is very similar to our own, brutal. Those who’ve seen brutality, such as myself, understand how you oppose that brutality. You cannot REASON with the world sometimes, and you can NEVER reason with brutality. You have to fight back, lash out, and win to survive, there is no other way sometimes unfortunately. Eren is an empathetic sensitive impassioned soul that’s still got his spirit in tact who simply is able to enact his inner understanding of justice unto reality. This is why it pains him so much to actually perform the Rumbling, a matter of survival over morality regarding all the innocent casualties. The brutality of the world. I’m sick of hearing this “evil Eren” narrative pushed over and over, it’s easy to say when you don’t truly understand the perspective of Eren, nor can even relate anything to his circumstances from your own life. Once again, sometimes this world is unruly and brutal, and the only way you can win and survive is by lashing out and fighting back. It’s a deep animalistic understanding of the world that, seeing these types of discussions on Eren, you need to have lived to understand it.

The problem is that Eren had options, sure he was manipulated and shown that he would 100% start the rumbling, but he still did that of his own will. He could've destroyed all major military facilities, sure they'd have to sacrifice historia, but that's the best decision for them, it doesn't involve destroying innocent lives of children, tribes, nation's and city states that weren't involved. His objective was to ensure the continuing happy lives of his friends. To do that he could've tried to brainwash them into leaving paradis to some deserted place on the other side of the globe and then potentially even change some eldians to look like them and himself and fake their own death. And in that case most of the island might survive, the government would certainly be executed and innocent lives would be lost, but some people would be left, but probably enslaved, it's not ideal, but it's better than what eren gave to everyone he considered his enemy. He had a lot of options, he just chose not to take them because it didn't satisfy his exact desires and ideals. His choice, was selfish and evil, and he forced himself to do it. It's still tragic, understandable and sympathetic, why he chose that, but it is not justice, nor is it good.

You are trying too hard at making Eren look bad. From a 0:50 till 4:15 it all make sense, until you intentionally drop what happened during 4:15. During this scene Reinor reminded to Eren that he said in past "i will kill you the most horrible way you can imagine, i will kill you all", to which Eren answered "huh...did i really said that? i don't remember it". He then continued that they are all alike, normal people, with their own problems. But unfortunately world is planning to destroy Paradis, so Eren doesn't have a choice but to destroy all of his enemies to save Eldians on Paradis - his people. There is no grey, nor white, nor black colors in this story. That's what you get when you're trying to genocide others for their sins from past. Had world forgive Paradis, forgive Eldians, non of this would've happened. The story is about how absolute hatred and dehumanization leads to absolute destruction.

chill. You're reading too much into the clip I placed there and misinterpreting. I don't think I agree with the idea that Eren was ever super lovable. Other than him generally having conviction as a kid and eagerness to work towards it, he had clear problems. And I don't mean the endearing ones you expect the main character to overcome, but deeper ones that weave into how he develops as a character, and aren't made to be likeable or not -- just a reason for where he ends up and why he does what he does. His main flaw in the beginning is that his drive and recklessness to attack was always far greater than his ability and intelligence to understand a full situation. He also clearly exhibits far too much agression and violent tendencies for his age about killing every last one of them. Maybe you miss it because he's talking about killing titans who are these monsters anyways...but his anger is still too much considering their understanding at the time was mostly pure titans. Given this isn't Naruto where sheer willpower and plot armor protects the MC and accomplishes their goals perfectly with pure fighting outcomes, it legit makes Eren make the wrong decision and more of a liability at times. Were it not for Erwin's masterful tactics and plans and cooperation with Hange + Levi, the sacrifice of a shitton of soldiers, Eren would have easily been captured for the Marleyan warriors after him and taken off the island. Eren was not frequently the reason for mission success as a Scout even with his Attack Titan power -- and that was plain and simple. Missions centered around him because he was a titan and the world needed to understand how/why. Eren doesn't really grow up much until they cleared Paradis Island of virtually all of the pure titans. The reason he really changes during this period makes a lot of sense: by then he was most certainly capable of looking both into the full past and future of the Attack Titan / himself. Essentially he was like Dr. Strange in the first part of the End of Avengers movie scanning through all of the possible future outcomes to ensure his goals were met: protect Paradis Island in perpetuity, especially and specifically his close group of friends. Pretty much the time jump we see after this Eren is super differently entirely because he's probably already fully aware of where this is going. We notice that when our main crew arrives in Marley, Eren is acting strange and very aware and knowledgable about the real world he is only just experiencing for the first time right then.

Attack on Titan is fantastic, but it’s not the ‘peak’ of all storytelling in all of television. Obviously, I understand this is opinion, but I’ve seen many anime fans chime in and state that while AOT is phenomenal is so many ways, there are other anime’s out there with a more captivating story. Personally, I could never rate AOT higher than Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

I can't stand this mindless bandwagon of glorification. Yes, this special was good. No, it wasn't great, it still suffered from the same issues the rest of the final season did - poor directing, awful storyboarding and average animation. The additions were neat and possibly the highlight of the episode. That said, it all pales in comparison with most of Wit's work and that's not an opinion, it's a fact. Feel free to disagree if you're clueless about cinematography. It's insulting to the studio Wit, as well as everyone's wit, that you're trying so hard to ride Mappa's dong after all their mistreatment of AoT so far.
