In this video I explain what might've happened to attack on titan if Eren's mother survived the first episode. Unlike my usual videos, this one was unscripted, so forgive me if it sounds like I'm rambling! Overall I had 3 main ideas for how the story would go if Carla survived. The first option is the "pacifist timeline" where Grisha chooses not to pass his titan down to anyone, due to the stress it would put on Carla and the rest of the family. The 2nd option is the "civil war" timeline, where Grisha does pass his titan to Eren and it leads to drastic consequences (with Carla preventing Eren from becoming a Scout). The final option is the "Mist Ending" timeline, which is just as depressing as the civil war timeline.

@@EthanPHX None of what you said makes any sense. The hundreds of colossal titans in the walls are all mindless titans. Bertolt is the exception as his Colossal titan is one of the 9 titan shifters. It's impossible for a titan to regain their human form unless they eat one of the 9 titan shifters and inherit their power. They get to live for the next 13 years until they inevitably die from Ymir's curse or they get eaten by someone else to pass down their power.

There is another possibility for Carla to survive without Dina being killed. If Carla had been somewhere outside the house while the wall was attacked. Then she would be shocked because of that big boulder on her house but she could still run away with her Kids. She would survive, Grisha would tell them everything he knows and Carla would support Eren. Also Eren would still have the possibility to activate his powers by touching Dina. With the extra knowledge they could train Eren's powers better and work out a plan to save and protect the island. Maybe Carla's influence on her son could even prevent them from the rumbling and make him choose a more political and thought out tactic instead on just destroying everything, including the wall.

I'm convinced that Grisha was not only asking Eren where his mother was to make sure she was alive and safe but that he was going to give her the titans that night. Eren telling him that Carla was dead, forced him into a corner where he had to give the titans to someone else everyone there would end up dead just like his wife and the rest is history. I've wondered what could've happened had he given them to Carla instead.

Something that wasnt mentioned in "the mist ending" is that I feel like if Eren knew he had a titans power he and mikasa would probably sneak out of the cadets camp and train his powers, so he most likely wouldve been alot more experienced by the time trost happened and mightve even been able to use hardening, if this were the case I could see him actually beating Reiner in season 2 making it so the scouts would have never had to rescue Eren meaning they all wouldve survived. The only downside to this is that we know the warrior trio would sneak out into the capital to find info so they couldve ended up stumbling upon Eren training his titan.

There’s a fourth ending. Basically the mist ending except the Boulder never hit Eren’s house. Dina Fritz would of been outside and Hannes would be scared but Carla isn’t trapped so all of them would run because the house wasn’t crushed. So Eren would active the founder with Dina and continue the series.

i think even with carla being around it would be similar to the normal plot until they fully pass, erens mom would tell eren to most likely take advantage of being an MP to be further in the walls and eren being eren would probably listen to his mom especially if grisha sends some memories so he probably wouldnt join the survey corps because theres no drive in him other than armin to see the outside world

I think this should go further back because Eren Kruger gave Grisha the Attack Titan knowing the sequence of events with a Carla. If those events didn't happen then his decision wouldn't happen. Also, if Grisha came clean to his family, they'd hell him to come clean to the military considering all the walls have been broken. People like Erwin Smith and Pixys would be very accommodating to someone in the military gaining the Attack Titan power. The knowledge about the Other titans would also be with them because Grisha knew about the founder, and would tell the military to go get the founder before it falls into Marley's hands.

Why don't just have Dina eat Bertholdt? That definitely solved a lot of problems for everyone on Paradis, Carla's life included. Plus, the idea of Levi get to knock Dina up as a way of getting back to Zeke is very interesting! Also, I have this plan called the Heraclius Plan, which I believed can save Paradis and the rest of the world in Attack on Titan. The plan was inspired by how Emperor Heraclius forced Shah Khosrow II to accept peace on his terms in the last Roman-Persian War of 602-628. And I think it is possible for Paradis to do the same here. But what significant about this plan is that once Marley is forced to accept peace on Paradis' terms, Marley will not be able to immediately retaliate because the invasion caused by Paradis is coincided with the Marley Mid-East War and the invasion itself is also nothing but a rampaging campaign that destroy a lot of Marley's economy and public infrastructures. And to make the matter worse, Paradis used the connection with Onyankopon to entice a rebellion in his homeland against Marley's rule. acing wars on three frotns and manpower and resources are rapidly depleting, Marley will be forced to choose between international humiliation and economic collapse. The point is that after these wars ended with Marley's defeat, they won't be able to do anything to anyone because the Marleyan government will needed to focus on rebuilding the country's economy. The only reason I don’t believe the pacifist timeline can work, is because Eren has to inherit the Attack Titan in order to manipulate his father into stealing the founder. He would also be manipulating his father through the selective memories he sends back. Grisha likely doesn’t follow through the night wall Maria falls, and without Eren inheriting the Attack Titan, that likely means Grisha dies at the hand of the royal family. Or perhaps, Grisha never bothers even making the trip to the chapel.

Honestly I liked the 3rd Timeline up until the end, as Stan Lee once said that the guy who wins is who he wants to win as the writer I also feel there are multiple ways Carla could have survived the first episode, for example when Eren runs off apart from Mikasa chasing after him she could go out looking too and she could find him in the square then when the wall is destroyed they just head there Princess Diana is still around for Eren to use the Coordinate and Carla still survives. But even if we used your 3rd Timeline if we remember Eren's first Transformation he was missing both an arm and leg and injured it was his pure rage that had him transform so if we had him access his rage once more and forces himself to transform maybe it could be smaller than usual because he was so injured but in the end he saves his friends and he could either carry all his friends as he runs away or instead of running away he could beat Reiner this time like the only reason Eren lost was because Bertholt surprised him so with Eren watching out for him he'd get Reiner and capture him then they could get the Armored Titan as well as the Colossal Titan in later seasons. That's just my 2 cents at least, but loved the video hope to see more of this type of video in the future.

I like this idea because in the santa titans stomach he was missing like, 3 limbs. In the field in that scene, he was missing his finger tips. So he would be able to do maximum damage due to how pissed of he was. AND Grisha still had the founding titan AND Historia is a royal. Another way the scene could play out is by Eren either somehow coming in contact with Historia, OR, he transforms out of pure rage (maybe without his hands fully formed) and winds up coming in contact with Historia later down the road. This would also possibly lead to the eventual discovery that Eren and Historia making contact is what allows him to use his power. (Much to the dismay of Mikasa) It CAN work in the bounds of the aot storyline.

I had an idea for what if Girsha gave Carla the founding titan. Theories I came up with would be she joins the scouts, but then Eren goes with her. Another theory I had was that Eren inherits the colossal titan, and Carla meets up with Zeke in Liberio but instead of waiting she'd decide to immediately activate the founder.

Eren can send memories to his past attack titan users, could it have been possible for him to tell Kruger to save Diana as well, to have one child with Carla nd one with Diana. in the cave, Grisha could use the serum to make his two children pure titans and kill the founding titan, eren eats the founder and the other child eats grisha. Grisha could have already written all of future erens plan in a bag, he brought with him and then they could use it to activate the rumbling. Eren and the other child would realize, that their mothers died through enemies and would be angry enough to start the rumbling

You are completely right, if Eren's mom never died, then Grisha would have never given Eren a titan. The only reason he gives Eren the titan is because he hears the news FROM EREN that his mother was eaten by a titan. And now because of the Finale, Eren said that he controlled Dina Fritz's Titan into going to kill his mom, which is actually impossible! This is because Eren can't change anything in the past that hasn't already happened, Eren couldn't have forced the Smiling Titan to eat his mom. In the other time-line where Eren only had the Attack Titan & needed to manipulate Grisha into stealing the Founding Titan for Eren, he would have needed to have the Founding Titan in the first place to control the Smiling Titan to eat his mom.

I'd like to think of a possibility where Grisha tells Carla and Eren everything, and along the line, Eren agrees to go with Reiner back to Marley in hopes of figuring out a completely different way of saving the island. Like, he already knows that he has the Founder in this alternate timeline, so he could probably use this as a bargaining chip to bide time. Since he can't use the Founding Titan's abilities (which Marley might also want for themselves) he'll likely be taken back to Marley and they figure out a way to get an Eldian royal like Krista/Historia next. Meanwhile Zeke could already start making contact with Eren and trying to get the Euthanasia plan underway. If in the possibility that Marley doesn't care about being able to use the Founder, just as long as the Eldians don't have it, maybe they'll just go on ahead and blitz the island as soon as they can. It'd still be a race against the clock for Zeke and Eren to collab before that, or before Marley decides to feed Eren to a new Warrior, not minding at all that the Founder's just gonna lay dormant indefinitely.

I like to think and theorize very possibilities such as this is what Eren foresaw with the powers of the Founding Titan through the Paths. Ultimately forcing him to go with the "best" possible/only outcome that would keep Paradis from going extinct. Even if it would take genocide on a global scale and still result in Paradis being mostly destroyed just a few decades later as we see in the manga's extended ending. At the very least the his people still survived despite Paradis being devastated in some fashion regardless. Tough the ominous showing of that damn tree at the end imply history may repeat itself yet again. And that even may have long before even Ymir first stumbled across it. . .

Well, depending from who Eren starts killing his friends in the "Mist" timeline, he will be able to unlock the founder when he touches Historia. So, some of them will still survive, though the Eren that makes it out from this timeline will be a monster, with no ethical dilemmas, since he would have killed most of his friends...

If Dina ate Bertholdt instead of Eren’s mom it’s likely that Eren would have never received the attack titan from his father and Grisha would basically be the main character. From there pretty much anything could happen since grisha wouldn’t have been manipulated by Eren so it’s possible that he doesn’t actually end up killing the royal family. Also his 13 year time limit is close to expiring I’m pretty sure. It would be cool tho in an alternate timeline where Grisha finds his previous wife alive and by them coming in contact with each other they unlock the power of the founding titan. Who knows what they would do with it though. Grisha’s main goal is to restore eldia but as we come to find out he’s not a big fan of killing innocent people so I doubt he’d start the rumbling like Eren.

She would never have survived because Future Eren sent Dina to eat his mom so that Past Eren would be sent on a journey of revenge against all Titans, culminating in the Rumbling which would wipe out all of humanity except for those on Paradis effectively saving all of his friends from war and allowing them to live long lives. Eren was behind everything in the series, it was all planned by him, even in his darkest moments Eren was in control the whole time.

Great video, I have to two things to add. 1. In the `Pacifist Timeline' If Grisha never give eren the founding power, then there's no way grisha would be alive, cause grisha couldn't bring himself to kill others and founding titan would kill him. 2. `SPOILER" for anime onlies, There could be another timeline, where Dina ate Bertholdt instead of ignoring him, That would be even more interesting timeline, two titan holder and eldian supporters, Two of grisha's wives, knowledge about the outside world and titan. It would be one hell of a timeline

The reason the first one doesn’t work is because erin made the smiling titan ignore bertholdt and eat his mom. But in this timeline eren never became the founder so the smiling titan would’ve most likely eaten bertholdt and wouldn’t even have made it to their house

In my opinion on how she will survive is if Hannah's bring in his friends or buddies to lift up the falling wood on her leg and retreat her along with her kids if Hannah fought Dina or the smiling titan he would just die knowing even if his train he lacks the experience

My two personal favorite possibilities is that either A Dina eats Bertolt and manages to run away, eventually finding Eren and explaining things. Or my second personal favorite, Eren in the field scene where he unlocks his founding titan powers, winds up transforming due to pure rage (All though it may be disfigured) and eventually comes in contact with Historia as she was there to, causing him to unlock his powers. This second explanation would also lead to everyone finding out that Eren and Historia holding hands allows Eren to use his full power. This would also mean that he would be able to trigger the rumbling ALOT sooner. Another What If? of Carla surviving I like is through unknown means, she survives being eaten by Dina and is just kept off-screen for the duration of AOT. Until during Tyber's speech, she makes herself known to Eren, causing him to come up from the basement dumbfounded because he thought she was dead. I like this because it would show the world that Eren would be willing to just cease all violence just like that. No bloodshed required.

I feel like it would be cool to make a 4th possibility when Hanes didn't appear at the same time he did in the og story and Eren would've tried to protect his family and eventually touching Dina, awakening the coordinate and then just subconciously control titans to kill Dina. And from this point there's nothing and no one stopping Eren
