My interpretation from what I've seen. For a long time I didn't understand why Daedra even bothered with toying with the mortal realms. I mean why not just stick to your own realm of oblivion and do all the crazy things you want to on your own land? I think I'm starting to get it now. Aedra aren't just gods but the living embodiment of the natural laws of reality. They literally make up all of existence and how it works. Daedra being creatures that didn't contribute their power to the mortal realms don't have as much power here in existence, because their realm is oblivion or non-existence. The reason they have any power at all is because of philosophies and exploit loop holes in physics. The Daedra probably don't like having their power diminished like that so they want to change all of reality to suit their whims. It's kind of ironic actually that dead gods with little power over the universe are still somehow kicking the asses of living gods who have all of their power, yet possibly can barely use it to it's full potential. Of course I'm probably wrong though.
@UnholyWrath32774 жыл бұрын
Ik it's late but that's a great way to view it. The aedra have given most of their power but are instrinsicly linked to the world and thus in select instances can bring more power to bear in that specific plane of existence. The deadra however while unendingly powerful in Oblivion cannot bring much if any of it to nirn because akatosh sealed the veil between Oblivion and mundus. They interfere with mortals simply from being immortal beings who have become utterly bored and to gain a slight gain in influence from worship however outside of Oblivion they are a shadow of their true selves

I like this way of looking at it. In my opinion no matter how you slice it, the daedra are demons. Think about it, in real life or in religion demons always make themselves known. Angels and god hardly ever does. It makes perfect sense. Though I do got a soft spot for Lady Azura, she's unfortunately a demon. I worship Lady Mara and Lady Dibella as well however.
@KDB3498 ай бұрын
I like the way you look at things. I agree completely. If you think about it the daedra are more like demons whilst the aedra are more angelic/godly. I love Lady Azura but she's on the bad side lol. I gave a more detailed comment originally but KZbin must have deleted it idk.

A video on Shor would be cool, too. Fun fact: While Akatosh/Auriel was the child of Anuiel, Lorkhan/Shor was the child of Sithis. Does this, by default, make the Nords indirect Sithis worshipers due to their reverence of Shor? What are your thoughts? I'd love to see a video on him and this topic.
@TerrariaGolem6 жыл бұрын
Oswald Rockwell lorkhan was closer to the house of sithis. Never stated he was a child of sithis. Or else he'd be mentioned in the dark brotherhood
@kaimagnus57606 жыл бұрын
Lorkahn was the Chaos to Padome's Sphere of order just like Jigalag was the Order to Anu's Chaos. They are the Antithesis to the other members of their pantheon as a sort of Metaphysical counter Ballance. Where as the Aedra Lorkahn has more in common with the Daedra, The Deadric Prince of Order, Jigalag, has more in common with The Aedra. Edit: Got Anu and Padomey backwards. My bad lol

Had a build idea for a while of a Nord Dark Brotherhood assassin in Skyrim who is overall an honorable warrior devoted to Shor like most Nords, but due to Shor being spawned by Sithis has come to believe that serving Sithis also serves the interests of Shor, at least in his/her own mind.

Just rewatched this. Thank you again, for helping renew my faith in Arkay. 😇👻 I know I posted this somewhere else, but I don't recall where now. A large part of my roleplaying on one of my main characters revolves around Arkay. I carry extra Amulets of Arkay with me on my adventures, which I bestow upon the various dead that I find. For example, if I come across an overturned cart, & the merchant who had been driving it, who has been slain by bandits, I will leave an Amulet on the body. I do this to help ensure that Arkay will notice this poor individual, & assist their soul on it's way to whatever realm it is destined for. With the great war having been so recent, & the current civil war in Skyrim, (not to mention the damn Thalmor & all their deprivations), I am sure Arkay has been very busy. I do have a question, though. Should I be leaving Amulets with Argonians & Khajiit? I don't believe they worship him at all. I do still leave them. I would hope Arkay could help an Argonian soul return to the hist, especially if they died so far away from their native home.

Very, very well-made video, Drew. I'd like to request a video on Meridia, and more specifically how she relates to Arkay. Her sphere and interests seem to overlap with those of Arkay; life and light, and hatred of necromancy and the undead. If I recall correctly she was originally one of the aedra, but was banished by the others for consorting with the daedra. Been toying with a build idea for a "holy warrior"-type of character in Skyrim who belongs to an order of Arkay worshipers who also secretly revere Meridia, due to the shared interests of the two et'Ada.

Meridia was originally a Magna-ge, which yes were originally aedra but are now outside spirits like the god of magick Magnus whom the Magna-ge derive their name from. Meridia is a fallen magne-ge or a fallen star, who either usurped a daedric realm or became a daedra depending on which aspect of Meridia you worship. She is the searing light, or the nourishing light. The searing light is a burning of undead flesh and a destruction of other deadra from the mundus. The nurturing light is much like a goddess of fertility in the real world, supporting plants and strengthening the resolve of those that fear the dark.

Did ancient nords venerate Arkay? Because the Draugr seem completely opposed to that. I read some books that I stole from the arcaneum about Draugr, and it turns out they were buried alive when a priest was killed or died. They would give their life energies to said priest so that the priest may live forever. It's all Dragon Cult stuff. Another book also explained why Claw Keys had their codes engraved on the key.
