One of my largest gripes is how we have just been entirely detached from what it was meant to be. It stopped being “three zany imps and their edgy hellhound get into wacky hijinks as they go up to Earth with the help of a horny owl to kill humans for money.” by episode 5, never to return, and instead became “horny imp and horny owl are actually depresso espresso, with a lot of issues and heartthrob romance drama, while having to work out their toxic relationship.” Millie and Moxxie basically only exist to fill the episodes song quota at this point, Stolas and Blitz have become the main characters, despite the show starting with him as just a fan favorite side character, and Loona is only given character when it contributes to Blitz in some way. Vivsie saw how popular stolitz was and decided to make that the show, which is a big no no, as it’s basically turned into it’s own fanfic.

I don't like that they changed the story to some love story. Before it was about two characters that were using each other for their own personal benefits. If Stolas winded up catching feelings that would have been fine but I feel like it shouldn't and just wouldn't work out. Also not to mention in the newest episode they completely ignored what happened at/after Ozzies episode. It's just changing a lot of stuff that definitely did not need to be changed.

Maybe I'm just reading into it differently, but I always felt there were some hints that Stella was always a neglectful wife and mother; like how in the beginning of episode 2 she hogs up the bedspread from Stolas, and doesn't even bother to check on little Via when she calls for parents at night, or how in Via's room there's only photos and drawings of her bonding with her dad instead of both of her parents.

Despite being fan of the how, I have to say that it seems Stella and the whole marriage was rectconed to make Stolas as good in the situation as possible. From Octavias earlier lines in loolooland, it seemed that, even if the marriage was loveless, at least Stolas and Stella didnt argue with each other. They even slept together. Sure, Stella was and is extremely agressive, but her hatred was justified. But obviously we cant deal with moral dillemas of cheating on your significant other in loveless mariage WITHOUT abuse, and Stalas being a heavily flawed person. Because yes, Stolas was controversial. He heavily objectified imps, countless times called Blitzo his "plaything", and he hurt Octavia because of reckless act of cheating
@ratsandmice16128 ай бұрын
Yes, that's what I've been thinking. Her entire character was built to make stolas look good. And they continue to do that. It's lazy writing. And stolas is just a bad character but people see him as an innocent man. He's not innocent either.
@NoLiveGirl2 жыл бұрын
The fandom needs to get their minds off wanting to see their favorite pairing get together rather than seeing a good story. Stolas is just hopping from one neglectful relationship to the other as it is. The two still got way too much to work on before they could even consider dating each other, but the show is just skipping over this part by giving us this backstory like "See?? This show is a great example of “trying too hard to be mature”. With the constant flow of curse, sex gags, and blood. It really sprints beyond the mature line and comes off like a teenager trying to act adult just because they finally can make jokes or talk like this. But in reality, there’s a balance to how much you use, Helluvaboss just went way over limit.

@terrizoop37392 жыл бұрын
@@irondragondxd3836 I’m gonna have to strongly disagree with you on that. The fight was never meant to be some grand “challenge” for them, it was a cathartic bloodbath that served as a good follow-up to the previous emotional scenes with Moxxie and Blitz. In Blitz’s case, this was literally just his way of letting off steam after getting personal with Moxxie. If you think episode 6 was some offender for fight scenes then I have to tell you that fight scenes don’t always have to indicate something is at stake. Blitz’s internal turmoil is the main conflict of that episode than anything Moreover, on the sex and blood jokes, I think Helluva Boss often got away with that because it had depth and heart beneath just the “adult” jokes. It wasn’t like family guy where the violence serves as the only comedic punchline. Nowadays idk if that same sentiment can be said, since the show feels a lot zanier and weirder in the current episodes

OK so I realized this was probably done this way to to show how greedy his dad is and doesn't but what's always bugged me is if pimon offered whatever blitz's dad wanted why didn't he take a shit ton of money from him for blitz? I know it was probably written that way to show how little his dad cares for him but seriously why have your Son make a plan to go steal from them on the play date when you could have just asked for all of that from pimon To begin with? Again I get that it's meant to drive home how much blitz is not cared about by his dad but it just made no sense to me
@jojomicswagens88762 жыл бұрын
It might be because of how much money Blitzo’s made by robbing everything inside. He might have been satisfied by just that, and not worry about extra up front payment when it’s probably just a drop in the bucket compared to the fortune they made just by stealing everything that wasn’t bolted down. Plus if Mr bad dad might have thought if asked for too much, he would lose this chance. Better to not risk it now to pay out big later.

I don't care if this turns out as an essay But okay, i need to say it I didn't really like so much the "love at first sight thing" yeah it can happen but it usually just ends in really toxic relationships since you didn't get to meet your partner better and you only stayed by their looks The episode has some bigger issues but come on, at least they could've develop their relationship better and not just "haha they're meant to be" (Tho i would've loved if their relationship stayed in "the two using each other for a little thrust and then act like they mean nothing" because that was really interesting and I was so invested on how they would develop feelings for each other I feel like this episode was more to give the fandom their ship, making stolas look like he did nothing wrong It was so cool to see stolas slowly realizing his mistakes and trying to get better for both his lover and family, but now that was just thrown away to the trash, it was mentioned in season 1 how stolas at least had a "normal" relationship with his wife but slowly turned into something awful and awkward Stella had so much potential, i don't approve any of her actions but they could've improve her character and make her even a cool villain Anyway, good point of view, i agreed in a lot of your points, keep the good work 🐢

The way they butchered Stella’s character is so disappointing. Before that episode, I was interested in knowing more about her, given that some obvious context was missing and the gaps could’ve been filled in to develop a pretty solid character. But no, she was turned into a lazy straw man type because the fandom hated her prior to the episode’s production.

Tbh that episode sucks. The only exciting things were new character reveals but it was EXTREMELY confusing and unnecessary. Also the fact with the entire plot twisting where Blitz and Stolas knew each other since kids(i had so many questions after this and its so confusing) I miss how the series were focusing on all characters equally where they go on missions and stuff, and it all got wasted on romance, trauma and drama... People have been overrating ships like PSYCHOPATHS and of course Vivz decided to join their voices and ruined the show... I hope when Hazbin comes i just PRAY that the whole abusive romance drama( aka angel dust and Valentino) doesn't become the next Stolitz because at that point I'll be forced to drop both shows.
@thetwelfth99872 жыл бұрын
After this episode I want Blitz to ‘break up’ with Stolas and get with Fizzarolli, they have more chemistry in that play scene than _Stolitz_ had in the entire series (it’s mostly lust driven interactions with a pinch of guilt), even as adults they have the same sense of dark, lewd humour, both childhood friends, both imps with no power imbalances. It’s ok to depict a toxic relationship in a show, what’s bad is trying to find redeeming qualities about it.

You're not wrong. It is irritating and I just feel like I'm seriously missing something or I'm out of the loop on someone else's inside joke as to why people like this? Which is a criticism I also have with the next episode as well... but I'm mostly chalking this up to being due to how fanatical this particular fanbase seems to be. Thus I think there have been many very vocal superfans singing its praises while the fans being turned off by the recent episodes are just sorta growing away from it cause it's no longer enjoyable. I imagine it's probably very hard (if not impossible) to be an YT HB/HH content creator and say anything negative about it cause you'd probably immediately lose all of your audience. Which is unfortunate cause I get the feeling there are others who wana say more, but are afraid of being too harsh on it. I used to really love this show and sure I can appreciate a joke here and there in this ep, but overall, it's just becoming more and more disappointing with each new ep. Like you said, the hivemind response calling this great is very alienating and weird (and worrying tbh) to me. I actually wana hear more genuine thoughts on it and discuss some of the responses to the current complaints about the show (like about how this episode retcons its own lore, etc.). Wish I was seeing more critiques out there like this.

@@vsGoliath96 well, at least for me, I got into this show expecting a light-hearted episodic adult comedy that wasn’t driven by a major plot, because that’s what it was marketed as in lieu of Hazbin Hotel. Ok, first off I would like to say that I absolutely love this show, I am admittedly quite addicted to it. However that does not stop me from looking at and admiting its flaws, and I 100% agree, after listening to what you have to say, that this was not the best episode. But there are some things I feel that you missed. First off, you were asking if you had missed something in the scene where blitzø and fizzarolli were playing, well that scene, from what I've gathered, is meant to be foreshadowing or a wink and a nod to when fizz loses his arms and legs as we see that he now has robot limbs in the present time. Secondly, as with the scene where Stolas fights with Stella, I definitely get where you are coming from with how that scene could have been better, and I agree it could have, but I don't think it was meant to be a spotlight of Stolas at his breaking point, I think it was meant to be more of a spotlight of Stolas finally standing up to Stella, specifically when he catches her hand, however that scene could have been better if we had seen Stella hit him at some other point. It would have made the spot light on Stolas standing up to her a bit brighter. Lastly about the flashback, I definitely agree that most of it was filler but the fact that they met as kids does have meaning, especially in that episode. Stolas would have sent blitzø away when his guards found him if he hadn't already met him and so the rest of the show would not have ensued.

This episode added the schlockiest "anime school crush/childhood friend" stuff to a pairing that didn't need it, presented the wife as the girl version of that abusive fiance character from James Cameron's Titanic (that character type was already tired by the time he was practically reincarnated as the Duke from Baz Lurhmann's Moulin Rouge). I sure hope the writers didn't use the "Depp / Heard" trial as inspiration, because that was a real life travesty compared to this one-sided soap opera of an arranged marriage. In the latter case, the much more famous man had all of the power (nevermind her own issues and treatment of others), his own fans accidentally revealed from unsealed files that he doctored his evidence against her, and took it easy singing on stage and palling around with notorious rapist misogynists like Marilyn Manson while she got the brunt of it socially and physically.

I actually love Stolitz as a ship, but so far the new season is really bothering me. Season one ended on such a crucial point in both Blitz's life and Stolas's feelings towards Blitz, and while S2E1 was enjoyable on its own, KZbinr HezuNeutral explained my problems with it(mainly the switch from stolas and blitz both being a bit toxic but having a huge power imbalance in Stolas's favor to Blitz being revealed as Stolas's first friend and being the sole manipulator in starting the situation, and changing Stella from a previously loving wife(noted by Octavia) that turned into a bitch after years in a dying relationship to an arranged wife that was violent and crazy since she was a child, and a consistent physical abuser shown by Stolas expecting her slap) much better than I can in the context of the whole show. But when I saw it, I was like "ok cool, we're getting a little flashback before the show goes into the intense character development that was set up in the previous episode" but then in S2E2 the whole thing was completely dropped in favor of 5 minutes of Octavia and Loona sister development in what's otherwise a filler episode. It's....not looking good. I may have to get back into fanfiction to find someone that wants to actually carry on with the stuff that was going on at the end of season one...

Although I liked this episode I must admit that I agree with you that I too wish they gave more Stella development. Like if you remember how in avatar there are a few episodes that give information on how Azula became who she is, or in Arcane how Powder became Jinx. I wish they would have at least done a cut to her either becoming evil, or just showing foreshadowing in some way. (Other than the picture Paimon showed to Stolas.)

I know this is a weird nitpick, but why was Stolas suprised that he was in an arranged marriage and upset about it? Hear me out; if he knew from a very young age that he would be told his purpose upon his birthday, would he not have also been taught to anticipate an arranged marriage too? Would he not have been excited and curious to find out who his father chose for him and then get upset upon realizing what it would really mean to have his partner chosen for him? Maybe even upset that his arranged partner wasn't a boy and start to wonder why he was hoping for that as the very first hint that maybe he wasn't straight? I just figure it would have been groomed and normalized into him since day one. Back in the dark ages before we knew the effects of incest, the idea of marrying and reproducing with your cousin was normalized with royals. I would assume a similar thing of normalizing an arranged marriage would have happened with the royals of hell too.

At this point I’m still waiting for a Millie episode based on Millie. Because this feels slightly like DBS where there’s a bunch of characters that seem important but then sometimes it boils down to the “Goku and Vegeta show” (I love it Tbh) but instead of this being a good, mature show it’s just “The blitz and Moxxie show with stolas” in my eyes sometimes

4:58, Blitzos dad has a male horn pattern and also literally has a beard. 8:31 the show is obviously far left and quite literally has 1 straight relationship, its pretty obvious what their political beliefs are and the slap had nothing to do with the Johnny Depp trials, just because they have domestic abuse doesn't mean its a reference to it, it is more of showing that men can indeed also be abused in relationships. 9:20, its in no way a joke its just a demon swearing, it wasn't supposed to be funny, the second one was because he's calling his own son a bitch, it shows the viewer how little he cares about his son. 10:07 it's very known by now if you've made it THIS far in the series that demons in heII curse a lot, its not that big of a deal and you're really making something out of nothing. The first part (4:58) was just unnecessary and was a poor attempt at being funny, ironic. Though you ARE right about the missing information thing, being left off on a cliffhanger then going to this filler episode, then in episode 2 all the story and plot just disappears its so stupid.

Since then, this show has gone off the rails, like the recent episode has Striker back, but then nothing really happens and Stolas just doesn't take it seriously; Blitz is more concerned about Loona's shot than saving Stolas, and the tonal whiplash is just so apparent. And oh yeah, still no clients for IMP yet

It fundamentally steered the show in a completely different direction; from being a decent episodic comedy about IMP assassinating humans for Hell clients to now a botched miniseries about Stolitz shipping galore with no real substance. Yes Stolas and Blitz being together was important, but not paramount in S1, mostly revolving around the Grimmoir, the central story was the IMP business.

I understand your opinion, and you are entitled to have it. I just wanna give my two cents about this episode and why I personally enjoyed it. The main part I liked about this episode was learning about stolas’s backstory. Even if it was things we already assumed(note:you say things we know at the beginning, but really it’s mostly stuff we thought happened, with the one exception being Blitzo fumping Stolas for the Grimore) I enjoyed seeing some of the details about Stolas’s life that lead him to where he is now. Things like why he was married to Stella, why they were still together, what lead to Blitzo fricking Stolas in the first place, they are things we guessed but I liked how they were elaborated on. Also, maybe I’m just daft,but I kinda thought the whole Blitzo thinking blood is cool as a child thing was actually pretty funny and a fine foreshadowing. I enjoyed it, although maybe I would have liked it better if it was done in a different way, I don’t know. Also also, about Stella, I think that although it’s a shame that the trope of the women being evil semi justifying the guy cheating is being perpetuated here, I think it works well enough. I actually think that not all evil characters need to have some complex motives for being evil, honestly it’s kinda refreshing in my opinion to just turn my brain off and have a bad guy just be bad. Also I really think that Stolas and Blitzo are just happier together and I love their characters, so I might be a bit biased. But in the end, all that matters is that I really enjoyed the episode, and it fights Ozzie’s for my favorite. What matters is not what caused me to like it that much, it’s ok to just like something cause you do. Just like it’s ok to dislike something others enjoy. If you ever read this comment, I appreciate you reading it all the way through and considering it. I really wish that when it comes to relatively unimportant things like favorite episodes people would be a lot more respectful of the others opinions, so hopefully I practiced what I preached in this comment. Doubt anyone’s gonna read this far, but it felt good writing it out. Probably why people like attacking things they disagree with so much.

I took away from the bedroom scene that it all was a misunderstanding. Like.. Blitzo doesnt want to have sex with Stolas but he needs to get the book. So he comes onto him.. Hard.. And in a way that he dosent actually seem to enjoy. But thats how he came onto Stolas. So of course Stolas latches onto that way of doing the deed. it makes sense for why hes so freaking out there. Hes mirroring what Blitzo did and thinking that its ok xD Just was my take away on that one.

I think Stolas catching the slap is meant to be him "finally" standing up to her, but we haven't seen anything that would imply he was scared of or put down by her abuse. Yeah, she was over the top performative, but nothing we see on screen shows she was physical before now. They don't even have Stolas really put together the attempts made on his life were by her, she just glares and smiles at him and I guess we're supposed to infer he just knows it was all her? She's just a caricature of abuse.

To be honest it has the energy of a filler episode with a little backstory to keep people invested in the show. I don't really see this as a plot episode because we've seen all of this before. That's also my opinion in some of the episodes with no growth in anything whatsoever. I know, I have a very unpopular opinion.

What I find very very odd during this chapter is that Blitzo stole from Stolas's family as a young kid. Yet Stolas (adult, who understand what was really happening) doesnt remember that when he hears Blitzo is trying to sneak into his room? Like, even if he didn't care about the material stuff ... you would think he remembers Blitzo lied and used him the first day they meet

While I personally think this episode is a better one of season 2, I was terribly disappointed that they've decided to make Stolas in love with Blitz since he was a kid. I would've been fine with them saying he's known Blitz since childhood, but the whole "being in love since childhood" trope is overused and it made me really disappointed a show like this used that trope. And I'm still disappointed by it. EDIT: also I'd like to disagree with you on how bad the song is. To me, it's one of the best in the show and is probably my favorite. That's my opinion though

I hate Stolas: It's not because he suffered at his wife's hands that he's poor, he literally harassed Blitzo ALL THE TIME. And no, Blitzo really didn't like that. (And she made Blizto the villain, really cool) After the Asmodeus episode, she changed everything, everything for the worse (made the typical female character that only serves to be hated. She wanted only one gay couple not to have something sexist in between 😍) For sure Stolas x Blitzo is one of the worst couples I've ever seen, and as a gay guy, I feel extremely offended. They always portray gay couples as if they were animals hungry for sex, harassers and etc...This is very offensive, really

The thing that makes me mad about this show is how they wasted such potential just for shipping and jokes about blood, sex, cheating... Imagine how amazing it would have been if the story had started off when Blitzo was a child and had gotten an entire season to grow and change into the demon we know him as. The same should have been done with Stolas, Moxxie, Millie and Loona, so that's five seasons in total for us to get the know the mains on a deeper level than what we (unfortunately) got. New characters keep coming and coming but for what? They're all underdeveloped. One of my favorite scenes was what happened to Moxxie's mom, and the conversation between Loona and Octavia. I know the show was originally meant to be episodic, but I can't be the only one who sees its potential as a serialised show.

The whole purpose of the episode was to recontextualize Stolas to make him more likable since he basically Winstined Blitz in season 1 and cheated on his wife. They needed Stolas to actually be in love with Blitz before the deal happened to make the deal not about a super rich privlaged asshole using power to get sex from a lower class man and them mutually using one another for personal gain, but actually about a uwu innocent shelterd lonely baby who's just trying to spend time with someone he's been in love with since he was a child, while Blitz is actually the worse party for using Stolas genuine feelings for him to steal the book. And Stella, who was never justified in trying to assassinate Stolas even if he did cheat, needed to become a cartooniahly evil one note villian so that once again, Stolas can become the uwu innocent baby who did no wrong and it's not his fault that bad stuff happens to him. He even says in their argument "if I hurt you, I'd be sorry, but we both know I didn't," which just felt like an argument directed at people who pointed out his cheating was wrong. Well now she's cartoonist abusive and always was, so the cheating was actually a girl boss moment for Stolas that hes meant to be praised for, good for him. This is why the Circus is my least favorite episode personally. Stolas was a flawed but human character in season 1, an asshole among assholes but in season 2 he's just a whump and not held accountable for anything bad hes done, if he does anythibf bad you can gurentee its justified in some way. Whatever bad stuff he does, whoever he did it to is 1000x worse, so we can just cheer him. Not to mention he's one of the strongest demons in hell yet always needs to be saved, because again, he's a whump. The writing bends over backwards trying to victimize the most privlaged and elite asshole in the cast and the gaslightinf ruins most of the show for me. I still watch because I enjoy Blitz and Fizz, I just can't stand the episodes thay involve Stolas

It's weird you thought Blitz's father was his mother when the audience saw a picture of Blitz's mother (as well as his twin sister) on his phone back in the first season's finale. Like how did you possibly manage to confuse the two parents? Also male imps always have thicker white rings on their horns than female imps, and his father had a goatee, so how did you even think his father might have been trans? Basically what I'm saying is that your confusion confused me.

While you do make some good points, you're wrong about this episode being made a flashback just to account for Episode 8 being delayed. Episode 8 is supposed to be a visual spectacle with a song about Loona at a hellhound party. That's it. The animatics for this episode were shown in the Season 2 reel at the start of the year, before they knew about the delay. This was a flashback episode not because of Episode 9's delay, but because they always had this intended to be a flashback episode. Season 8 is just supposed to be well-animated filler, nothing advancing the Stolitz plot.

I agree this episode is bad, but I disagree heavily on why you think it’s bad. 1. Your points about this not really giving much when it comes to a story is kinda stupid??? As this is a backstory episode, this is obviously not going to give much information about the current happenings in hell. I also just find your argument in general kinda dumb, since like filler exists? Obviously, there does need to be some explanation for the ending of season 1, but if you’re coming in with this mindset of "Oooo everything needs to have story 0 filler!", Then that’s just kinda dumb imo. 2. So uh why did you randomly ramble about the slap scene? You, for some reason, threw in politics in what tried to be a emotional scene in the show because a joke about politics was in Season 1 Episode 4? Like that was just a very random and a shitty take to bring up, that served 0 purpose but to just randomly bring up politics. Also, the entire argument about "If they wanted to show impact with the slap why didn’t she slap him!" Like what? The entire thing is that he is rebelling against her for all the abuse. Why did you randomly come to the conclusion it was just "Durrrr abuse bad" when this is legit about their toxic relationship and not some moral! This is Daft Pina level critiquing. Also, what were you on about with the slap not hurting Stolas? Like again, the entire thing is that she has abused Stolas a bunch and now he is rebelling by stopping her from doing it again. Did you want her to pull out a gun or something? Those were the only 2 points that made me think "What are you talking about?". I feel like you should probably get less side tracked on random bs (Again, why did you randomly bring up Amber Herd?) and (no offense) look at the entire show in a retrospective to actually understand plot points. (Again Point 2 boggled my mind, the most I can at least understand why you’d dislike filler). I think this episode is bad because it ruined Stella. Imo season 2 just dumbs down all the Helluva Boss characters to their stereotypes. It’s kinda dumb. The show made Stella basically say "You, focking bastard, I sure just love torturing you!" , For the show supposedly being 18+ it talks to their viewers as if their 2. Like, yeah, I know Stella is a bitch why spell it out? And also how the backstory was handled kinda felt like an AO3 fanfic (and not the good kind). It was just too stereotypical with the "Love at first sight!" Trope. Me personally I prefer my love stories with build up and not as just a plot device of "love at first sight"
