These long range missiles such as stormshadow require direct involvement of the NATO country to operate. They use satellite target selection and NATO technicians to pre-program each missile's path and destination. Ukraine cannot change the target. That is why we've been told Ukraine is "asking permission" to target Russia - it is asking NATO countries to set targets within Russia. Of course any country must treat premeditated guided attacks as acts of war, regardless of where the attacks are launched from.

I do agree that western weapons are not super weapons, but a number of weapons are extremely good, many a little better that Russian systems, but Russian systems are close enough to being as good and as you said, for a fraction of the cost and in vast quantity and another thing is Russian systems are vastly more proven in real conflict. As the Wehrmacht marauded through the Soviet countryside, they exterminated a staggering 18 million civilians - only 8 to 9 million were Red Army KIA, the rest of the 27 million Soviet losses were all civilian. too many cauldrons, I would like to call it pockets instead. Cauldron imo qualifies when huge amount of troops are encircled (like Germans did in Russia 1941, or Allied did in Falaise 1944). If it is less than multiple regiments or even divisions encircled I would call it a pocket. just my 5 cents

Falaise was called "Falaise pocket". Pockets can be 1.000s large, but also 100.000s large. Cauldron is similar to pocket.

Uhledar is a strong fortress located on a hill. Defenders of this fortress can attack anyone over a distance of 2 km. So it is much better to soround it instead of fighting for it.

MILITARY TUBE TODAY - A massive storming by the Russian Armed Forces on the Yuzhnodonbasskaya-3 coal mine northeast of Ugledar has put Ukrainian forces in a very difficult situation. A large video released by Russian military correspondent, on September 14, 2024, shows Russian assault troops launching a fierce assault on the mine structures, and entering the area around the mine, where Zelensky’s troops had been hiding for a long time trying to defend Ugledar. However, this time the enemy troops appear to be completely surrounded by artillery and bombing attacks, and a large explosion occurred in one of the buildings of the Yuzhnodonbasskaya-3 Mine, located west of Vodyane, which was recently liberated by Russian fighters. The assault on the extreme mine, where fighting continued after the Russian assault troops landed, would be a death sentence for the fall of Ugledar. Epic footage shows artillery preparation, and then a mechanized attack with the entry of two Russian armored groups into the mine area to destroy the enemy. The armored groups, consisting of armored vehicles and motorized rifle units, entered from two sides at once, from the north and from the south, pinning down the Ukrainian positions. After a massive artillery barrage on enemy positions, the armored vehicles broke into the complex while firing and deploying troops. Soon after four more armored vehicles arrived to disembark, one of them was hit by an explosive device during the advance, but with almost no losses. The advance of their comrades did not stop, and it is likely that the landing force landed there while continuing to press the Ukrainian positions.
