Welcome to Loqstaq, my hometown. Some good places to eat in Loqstaq: Restoran Ikan Bakar Top (in Mergong, specializes in Malay cuisine), Gerai O La La (in Mergong, specializes in cendol but also sells laksa), Restoran Adik Abang (in Alor Mengkudu), streetside nasi lemak stalls in Jalan Gangsa (only at night, plenty of roadside nasi lemak stalls selling delicious cheap nasi lemak as low as RM2 per bungkus/package), Iman Koeyteow in downtown area, Restoran Sri Pumpong in Pumpong (Malay cuisine), Restoran Nasi Kandar Yasmeen (Indian Muslim/mamak cuisine), Nasi Lemak Royale in Pantai Johor just outside Loqstaq..

This video brings so much memories .. Lived (and worked) in Loqstaq for 17 years before moving to Shah Alam in 2005 ... Had a house in Sungai Baru, about 3 km from Paddy Museum... That trunk road you took actually passed my house (on the left)... Yup, Loqstaq is a food heaven ... Where you can still get nasi lemak bungkuih for 2 ringgit... With moderate portion of boiled egg & sambal bilis... Very glad that you guys had a bliss !!!

I live in Alor Setar for 30y now & had no idea this homestay exist 😱 It's beautiful & at affordable rates (for rooms RM180+, whole house cost RM2.5k per night) Now i have to watch the rest of Kumar's trip in Perlis bcs sometimes my family would like to visit there but we just don't know where to go or the best place to stay. Such a heartwarming video... my hometown Aloq Staq! Our elder statesman, Tun Dr. Mahathir's favorite dodol (glutinous rice kueh with gula melaka, pandan and sometimes durian) stall is in Pekan Rabu! I hope you got to taste some good dodol while you were there. And BT Haus Retreat is so near to Mee Abu Jalan Sultanah!!! My favorite mee goreng in Kedah!

Actually that nasi kandar royale spot open very early in the morning. So maybe all the lauk been there since morning. That's why it is cold. Bandar alor setar need more exploration. Pekan Cina also have good accommodation.
