Weezy needs to take her personal opinion out of the context. When discussing sex in a public forum, there should be a general language that promotes sex as a healthy act. Rather than exposing our own personal preferences on what sex should be like. Especially the words "beat" or "murder", states that those entering the sexuality should have this premise for their experience. I agree, I would love the language to change. I want my son/daughter to be exposed to healthy experience rather than what the media suggest. Like Mandi said, "pose the question to just explore the thought and the conversation."
@Alexis-wp7tf2 жыл бұрын
I have to agree with Michelle. The question is heavy and I don't think people were ready to hear that we ALL contribute to some shape or form of negativity surrounding sex, even if it is joking or for entertainment. We always blame porn or the patriarchy, but this is something the majority of us all use. The mention of the middle schoolers was telling. I remember being in middle school and boys slapping my butt or hugging me from behind because they liked me and even me saying no or visibly looking unamused did not fase them. So I think this language feeds into the agressive nature of sexuality that unfortunately puts a lot of people in unpleasant situtaions because it is culture and mostly impacts the youth. I'm also surprised she did not mention for her argument the fact that majority of women watch lesbian porn because a lot of us do not want to watch women being objectified and the agressive nature of how heterosexual porn is portrayed so women specifically have to find ways to move away from this agressiveness in order to find pleasure sometimes.

Being aware of language when talking about sex is something I totally agree with. Especially out in public it’s a time and place for everything the things I talk to my partner in the bedroom is definitely different and more filtered than when I’m out in a public setting.

I agree with Michelle. I think it's the fact that violent language has become predominant in the way we talk about sex. There's nothing wrong with saying it personally but factoring in the way women are objectified, talking about having sex with a woman violently can exacerbate the way black women specifically are perceived. It's compounded by the stereotype Michelle spoke about, Black women being strong, masculine, and incapable of vulnerability. I think having that kind of talk dominate our conversations about sex does a disservice to both black men and women - women being seen as invulnerable and men as beasts.
@yellow543212 жыл бұрын
I understood what she was saying in the original post. People were making it out to be about kink shaming or respectability politics and it was neither. For me the issue is the language is being created by and popularized by misogynistic men. These men are disrespectful to women in their music and outside of their music. You have to visualize a generation of young men and boys who are listening to sexually aggressive lyrics, watching aggressive/ violent porn and now listening to misogynistic podcast. It influences how they see and interact with girls and women.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your guest on this episode- so informative and on point! I COMPLETELY agree with her statement about the OUTSIDE LANGUAGE we use about sex- ESPECIALLY in our music! Many (too many) young people (KIDS) listen to and hear this language in the music they listen CONSTANTLY! This is how they think they (boys) should talk to girls, but as with many things that have become “accepted” by us Black folks, we don’t consider where a word (or statement) came from historically. We continue to use hurtful/harmful words and claim them WITH PRIDE! She makes a damn good argument that needed to be said👏🏽👏🏽
@UrbanDecayLova2472 жыл бұрын
I agree with Michelle! She’s not policing what people do in their own bedrooms, but we do need to be conscious of the words we use especially when younger people are having their first sexual experiences with awful messaging. I feel similarly to porn - as an adult, I don’t see much wrong with it but the problem is when younger people who are virgins or still very inexperienced get a hold of that content and begin thinking that is how sex should be because they have very little to compare to.

I'm in my early 30s now. As a teenager I was talking to this girl about sex and I used the term "make love" and I was called all kind of lames and basically accused of being a virgin because I used that term. Fast forward to a few months ago the woman I was dating had a problem when I said "fucking" and I had to explain to her that I use that term to describe the intensity of sex, not necessarily to imply the person I'm having sex with doesn't mean anything to me. She prefers the term "make love" for any type of sex. I say all that to say a lot of the time women perpetuate what is or is not acceptable. My young mind was molded to believe making love was uncool and I had to "fuck". Which became a habit to use that language and could have possibly pushed away other women. The culture of sex needs to be relearned. Not to say people can't like sex language that's aggressive but a lot of children get the idea that aggressive sex is the only way to have sex and aggressive language is the norm. We need better sex ed at some point.

18:15-- i think this guest is missing the MAIN reason why men use that "violent" language...a big part is cuz women make fun of men who dont put in work. So men feel the need to talk up their game to avoid being put on blast. 33:27-- chicks who are shy to say what they like, communicate thru moans. Pay close attention to the moans and her body's reactions and vibrations to what ur doing 😉

I guess I'm a square I just don't do alchohol before sex lol I hate being under any influence during intercourse. I just don't get nothing from it I love being aware of everything it's sober sex for me. I never hear anything about ppl smashing sober smh so many ppl are the same. I guess we were all trained by society that alcohol and sex have to be linked thats a form of brainwash, I feel individuals that drink before intercourse is a form of low self-esteem/low confidence on top of whats learned from society. If you can't be aroused and at full compacity on your own then you have to reevaluate some things, do some self reflection understand that's alcohol or anything is not necessary to enjoy intercourse.

I kind of disagree.I think we as a people need to be more articulate and dignified and proud, but sexual language I think is so personal it doesn’t have to be regulated unless you’re being offensive to a specific person. If I’m speaking on what I like or what I did because I’m comfortable sharing who are you to control my language, if it doesn’t offend the person I’m conversing with??? Language in rap I think is a different animal. But when sw my friends or whatever I will speak how I want sooooo this was a big no for me I just feel it’s inconsequential to the greater good of our people to judge or regulate how I’m speaking about my sex life lol. Come on now.

Yea like pods and in music, public spaces but more than likely in any public space their is a control around this specific topic, like ratings and what not. There is space to speak freely about sex in public spaces too. The whites do it as well if it makes you feel better. I still think it’s inconsequential to the greater good. But go off.
