Man I am so glad I get to see Madline Thompson leading in her younger years! Most of her clips leading with the Ward Singers are from after Clara Ward and Mother Ward were gone.

This is mind-blowing for me. Dr. Calvin Statham was a music teacher at my school in the 1970s, and we had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Malvilyn Statham sing at a school concert; it was apparent that she was exceptionally talented -- a star, really -- but we had no idea about her association with Clara Ward. Thank you so much for posting this.

Thank you for sharing this. He filmed his TV shows in Philadelphia so it was fun for Clara to go to her hometown. She was on local Philly TV stations in the 1950's.

I admired this group for being dedicated, original, and very talented! I never saw this clip before but I did see them on T.V. back in the day. Never forgot they worked their way into the hearts of so many. Blacks were not often given the opportunity to sing for a mixed crowd of people. Thank you for editing and posting this clip/link of these very talented individuals. Other clips were of poor quality but this one is so refreshing. They were so original! Their voices, their costumes/dresses, and manner of dance were exceptional for the times. Thank you so much for sharing!!! This revived me today.

Who is the guest that requested they sing " He's Got the Whole World in His Hands." He looks familiar, but can't place him. Never mind, its George Segal

The reason why the ward singers were so good was because they had straight up church singers
