Living in the Bay Area, when Sandinista came out I’ll never forget San Francisco Chronicle newspaper acclaimed music critic Joel Selvin had his review in the Sunday Datebook section, it went on for 3 entire pages describing every in, out and sideways moment of every song like some describing a art work from Picasso.

There's kind of a childlike vibe to the song like a lullaby then it turns anthemic as the last chorus gets me everytime "I KNOW THE BOYS AND GIRLS ARE NOT ALONE".

I saw them open for ‘The WHO’ at Shea stadium in 1983. It is still my favorite show of all time. I had the pleasure to get to know Joe through the years. A real cool, sweet man. He died of endocarditis. I almost died of the same. He is & will be the greatest bad ass rock singer I’ve ever heard. Watch ‘The Future is Unwritten’. Go to the East Village in NYC. He’s well loved there….he fought the law and won…

They cried the tears, they shed the fears Up and down the land They stole guitars or used guitars So the tape would understand. Without even The slightest hope Of a thousand sales Just as if As if there was Hitsville in UK I Know the boy was all alone Till the Hitsville hit UK. Remember They say true talent Will always emerge in time When lightening hits small wonder It's fast rough factory trade No expense accounts Or lunch discounts Or hypeing up the charts The band went in And knocked 'em dead In two minutes fifty-nine I know the boy was all alone Till the Hitsville hit UK So hit it No slimy deals With smarmy eels In Hitsville UK Let's shake and say We'll operate In Hitsville UK I know the boy felt all alone Till the Hitsville hit UK The mutants, creeps and muscle men Are shaking like a leaf It blows a hole in the radio When it hasn't sounded good all week A mike 'n' boom In your living room In Hitsville UK No consumer trials No A.O.R. In Hitsville UK I know the boy felt all alone Till the Hitsville hit UK Now the boys and girls are not alone Now the Hitsville hit UK. I know the boys and girls are not alone Now the Hitsville hit UK. I know the boys and girls are not alone Now the Hitsville hit UK. I know the boys and girls are not alone Now the Hitsville hit UK.

The Clash are often at their best when the forego the high concept stuff and focus at their own experiences - Garageland; Brixton; White man; this one. I mean, here I am, thirty years later, in fucking Serbia, on the brink of crying because of a song celebrating bands I've never listened to. Is there any other band like this? Probably no.

The Clash are indeed a Singular Cosmic Phenomena ! I love the way that they looked as a world without any filters or Rose colored lenses they took it all in including every bit of horror and Injustice and they turned it into music that would teach us, lift us, MOVE US (sometimes to tears, sometimes to shaking our ass ) and bring us together. The music of the clash was magical and alchemical... Presenting visions of the world is it truly is simultaneously with visions of the world that could be... The world that we could all create together. Not by holding hands and singing kumbaya , but by raising our fists and singing "Whiteman...". BLAH BLAH BLAH 🤭 I'm just way too tired.🙄🤪🙄😉😂😂😂 BUT MAD LOVE TO ALL WHO LOVE THE CLASH !! 🙏🏼✌🏽♥️ And to all who are about to...

I remember singing it to myself in July 1999, when I was 9, there was a really beautiful girl in my brother's class who was interested in me but I wasn't until I was older and in my mind this was her theme tune, but I've never been able to contact her so I decided I would have this as my own theme tune 😂 As a tribute, her theme tune is the other Ellen Foley song (Paradise by the Dashboard Light). Another one that was a great childhood song.
