This short little peak at a small regional TV programme in the late 70's/early 80's in the U.K. just shows the quality and variety of groups playing great music, people who can look back, try to explain it to their kids and they just don't understand. We were the lucky ones. Laugh manically........

What's progression in the 21th century? blandness!! We had the best live shows on tv back then. This ws my era, sadly only the clash and specials made it to Belfast. Miss joy division but ws at the Jam's 2nd last gig.

Classic Strummer forgetting and ballsing up the words, great energy though. Mick's lead playing here is way off, leaving out the important underpinning licks during the chorus, The Jam smashed it as always.

Not so much, Ayatollah Khomeini was on the news a lot in the 70s - Iran's been newsworthy for a long time. Say Ayatollah (though he was Imam Khomeini to anyone in Iran) to anyone my generation and we're likely to think Khomeini automatically and likely link the name with the Shah of Iran too. Then in the late 80s he issued a Fatwa against Salman Rushdie.
