London Calling: since 1980 - when I bought the double LP aged 14 - one of my alltime fave top 5 albums of all times!!! 19 tracks, no filler, hit on hit. Magic. 44 years since then, and only The Police "Regatta", The Smiths "Queen is dead" and the Marychains "Darklands" found also the way in this top-5. What a killer album!!

Starting from the cover art to the ecclectic music style, this rough diamond is hard to categorise,even harder to resist. I am so proud this is in my Top 10, i had the debut first and was crazy about that record, GIVE'EM ENOUGH ROPE was for a long time a mystery to me, heard it years and years too late. LONDON CALLING was a bit weird when i heard it for the first few times, it wasn't straight punk like the first one,but i already loved reggae and ska,so it went easy through my ears. SANDINISTA was a harder piece (3x) to chew, but i love it better now then when i was 15. After COMBAT ROCK-i knew it, it's over, the album is good, but you feel the tensions. CUT THE CRAP is the proof, oh JOE, how could you do it to us? No one of the members never really recovered from the split of the mothership. Respect for the MESCALEROS, B.A.D, or THE GOOD,THE BAD AND THE QUEEN,but they never were on the CLASH level. If i'm wrong-educate me

Lloyd Price, who died 3 May 2021, recorded 'Stagger Lee' in 1959. The Clash adapted it, and entitled it, 'Wrong 'Em Boyo'. It's originally an American folk song from the 19th cent.

This is a double album and it’s got everything from everywhere on it. First clash album, driven, focussed, iconic, new. Enough rope, pretty good, the rest of what punk clash had left, this album had nowhere left to go except everywhere, which it does. And you’ve got used to reggae these days you’re editing it out and just hearing 60s mainstream.
