The thing with the door open/close buttons was explained on rail forums website. the different unions had different ideas who would control the doors. if it was the conductor/guard who did the doors and any thing went wrong then they would need to gain access to the reset button which on some types (701) ? are inside the drivers cab. and the drivers said NOT ALLOWED. so that might explain the lack of buttons to open/close the doors.

Great vlog Ian, I think the WMR Class 730s are good for extra standing room and I think you’re right I don’t think tables are necessary but the sockets and USBs are.

Totally agree

I would be happy to see the London Northwestern Railway Class 730/2 in service and to do a comparison of the West Midlands Railway Class 730/0 and the Class 730/2.

I would as well

There an interesting batch them 730s.. They don't have the seating capacity of the 323s but are perfect for standing room in the busy cross city, Stour Valley rush hour period. The tables are there for longer journeys so Birmingham-Rugeley or Redditch/Bromsgrove to Litchfield etc.. BUT The 323s will always be the Cross City EMUs and I miss them

I saw them work perfectly yesterday because my train to take me to work was a 730, it was rammed because the one before got binned and literally, it was so full that you could get more on The fact that they are about half a unit short of a 350 and as a double formation don't fit at Sutton Coldfield or Lichfield City is a little discouraging but I think they could be alright

The London Overground 710s had door close buttons installed but they have never been operational.
@TransportVloggerIanАй бұрын
I did wonder about the 710s but something in the back of my mind was like, no, they have door locking buttons

I do like the Class 730/0 that are now in service and have replaced the Class 323. And also the Class 730/2 that is expected to enter service either at the end of this year or in the beginning of 2025.
@TransportVloggerIanАй бұрын
I do have a feeling that we are going to get that announcement literally any day now

The biggest issue with the class 730's for me is they replaced the Class 323's which I'm missing seeing on the cross city line already.
@TransportVloggerIanАй бұрын
I think that that is the major sticking point at the moment
@Thornaby37Ай бұрын
The 730/0s are ok for short journeys with plenty of standing space, but I don't think they're suitable for anything longer than half an hour It will be interesting to compare them with the 730/2s
@TransportVloggerIanАй бұрын
I think that that is a great way of thinking about them

6:23 the 730s were built by Alstom not Bombardier
@TransportVloggerIanАй бұрын
Actually, we're both right because production started with Bombardier but Alstom finished the line

Nice mate but class 730’s are not bad but class 323’s were more better especially regional
@TransportVloggerIanАй бұрын
323s definitely had more of the commuter vibe going for them
@johnroberts2331Ай бұрын
Hi Ian, will these 730s eventually take over the horrible 350/2s (mostly these days) on the Chase Valley Line or are the 350s in for the long term? I've not ridden the 730s yet but I can understand your point about the replacement for 323s but I guess time will time.
@TransportVloggerIanАй бұрын
They will be replacing them, for sure

@@TransportVloggerIan great news. Can't stand any 350! Particularly the /2s!
