I believe you misunderstood the block moving rules at 2:51. From the creator's mouth: In the second edition of the game, we added one small phrase on page 5 of the rule book to clarify that you could rotate and/or move a block at the beginning of your turn. There may still be some of the first edition in retail channels.

This is a great game, and was actually my first hobby game purchase. You're right about it being a good conversation piece, as my non-gamer friends demand playing it frequently.
