sorry if this was mentioned but some suit sleeves don't have operable buttons. Those that do can be more expensive as they imply custom jackets and leaving the first button undone is a style choice (at least in the US). Hope everyone is enjoying the tournament.

Gotta say, it is lucky that the clock malfunction did not happen in a critical position. It looks like Gukesh would not have had much trouble finding the 40th move even before being granted extra time, but they should still look into why it happened and make sure all clocks are good to go for the next round.

Sure, only one woman has managed to play in the main candidate's, but their skill level isn't that far off from what is typically players in the top 10 worldwide. I personally hope one day the necessity of having a woman specific tournament might be a thing of the past, but there really isn't a barrier to entry for women in chess. They just don't qualify sadly.

First time i found your analysis to be a bit off, regarding pressing on. He had some 5 minutes to make 10 moves when he traded rooks. With 0 increment, versus a played like Nepo, you cant blame him to play a bit safe.

WTF did you want the arbiter to do? Did you watch the livestream before being such an idiot? The arbiter came, then called the main arbiter, they looked at score sheets, clocks, quick chat and in less than a min they manually changed the clock. Why should the arbiter be responsible for the clock failure? I agree that it's bad and should not happen at this level, but it's no fault of the arbiter.

Partially decorative, mostly pragmatic: they can be used to replace lost buttons by cutting them free and sewing them in the lost button spot. Same for why some buttoned pants have an extra button somewhere along the waist band/area.
