Stunning Pergola. Could you pls. tell me how you fixed the posts in the ground? With cement?

I set them in around 18inches and tamp in soil, so no cement used.

@@upatgrassybottom9859 What type of wood did you use? Have you put an oil on the posts to protect them or just set them in the soil?

@sonjag.1511 I used standard 4x4 inch pine posts, I haven't treated them , I feel they'll last a long time anyway. It wouldn't hurt to treat them, but I don't.

the milling marks are how they pressure treat the post ....

Thanks, great to know. I also have some without the marks that are also pressure treated. Different Mills I guess.
