At the height of the Clone Wars, a unit of Clone Troopers, led by a nameless Blue Trimmed Clone Commander was sent deep into the mid-rim to take back control of a dusty world that had pledged themselves to the separatists. The clones didn’t realize however that they were being lured into a deadly trap by Coun Dooku, and his fiendish Cyborg General, Grievous. During the heat of the battle however, one brave Separatist commander saved the life of the Blue Trimmed Clone Commander, while giving up his own.
I’m going to breakdown the full story of the Separatist who gave his life to save a Clone trooper from certain death. Before we get into it, make sure to fire your blaster at the subscribe button for more awesome Star Wars lore content.
So the story begins high above the atmosphere of the Vidaav Mining Colony in the Mid Rim, where Count Dooku and General Grievous are overseeing plans to trap and destroy Republic Clone Forces on the surface.
As the two look down at the dusty world below, Grievous tells Dooku that he has purprosely lost control of the planet to the Republic, and that the colony is now out of Separatist hands, just as he had requested earlier.
Dooku is pleased by this and asks Grievous if the Republic has finished landing their clone troopers onto the surface of Vidaav so that they can lay their trap for the unsuspecting clone. In response, Grievous then tells Dooku that not all Clone Troopers have landed, but enough to set the trap have made their way into the colony.
Dooku then goes on to ask about their “allies” on the surface, which are the local Vidaav species, who have pledged themselves to the separatist alliance. Grievous then tells him that a few hundred thousand remain on the planet, but we do not have enough ships to take them with us.
Dooku then coldy responds to this, saying “Then they should have built us more in the time they were given”, meaning that unfortunately for many of the locals on the planet below, they will be caught in the separatist trap, and most likely horribly killed.
Following this, One of Grievous’s B-1 battle droids begins a hologram communication with him from the Separatist Commander Centre on the Planet’s surface, telling Grievous that the Republic has landed most of its troopers.
Through the crackly transmission, Grievous then asks his B-1 unit if they were able to place the mining charges without the locals noticing, revealing the type of Trap that will be used against them… a terrifyingly large blast detonation. He then orders his battle droids to activate the timer on the detonation sequence, and that he expects the surface of the planet to be transformed into a raging inferno before he leaves the system.
His B-1 unit then asks, “What about the Vidaav colonists?”, but Grievous has absolutely no sympathy for the locals on the planet as hopes to use them as bait to keep the Clone Troopers of the Republic pinned down, chillingly saying “let them live on in history”. Truly terrifying stuff.
As this is happening, the Republic forces begin flooding into the main command base of the local Separatists, firing their blasters rapidly at them, and continuing their advance. The B-1 Battle droids then initiate the hellish destruct sequence, transmitting the signal to the mining array below the surface of the planet, with the computer below receiving the signal and priming the charges. Fifteen minutes to detonation. Play beeping sound
The B-1 units then go even further, activating an automatic defense system on the blast detonator, meaning that anyone attempting to disable the signal will be quickly eliminated in an instant.
Following that, we cut back to a Blue trimmed Clone Commander, who informs his men that the minning computer underground is sending out ua detonation signal, before firmly ordering them to evacuate all of the other troops. One of the other troopers respond to this saying “Commander, we won’t make it back to the ship in time.”
In a very brave move, Blue commander tells his men that they will not be going back to the ship. And let me know down below what you think we should call this Blue Trimmed commander, as he never received a name in the story. Some people also believe he could be ARC Trooper Alpha-17 himself, but let me know what you think.
