🚨 Cloud certifications-everyone’s talking about them, but are they really worth your time and money? In this video, we're diving into a hot topic that’s sure to stir the pot: Why You Should NOT Do Cloud Certification (And What to Do Instead!). If you're feeling overwhelmed by the endless list of certifications out there, or if you're wondering whether those shiny certificates are truly the golden ticket to your cloud career, this video is for you!
🔍 Here’s what we’ll cover:
1. Certification Overload: There are so many cloud certifications available-AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, DevOps, Security, AI, Data Analytics, and more. But is it really necessary to chase every single one? We’ll discuss why this certification frenzy can be more harmful than helpful and how you can avoid falling into this trap.
2. The Asterisk Effect: Passing a certification exam doesn’t necessarily mean you’re battle-ready for real-world cloud challenges. We'll explore the gap between theory and practice and why hands-on experience is far more valuable than a piece of paper.
3. The Certificate Collector’s Syndrome: Are you collecting certifications like Pokémon cards? While it might feel good to have a wall full of certificates, employers are more interested in your actual skills. Learn why it’s more important to focus on solving real problems rather than just passing exams.
4. Life Beyond Certifications: Time is precious, and spending it all on exams might not be the best use of it. Discover why building projects, gaining experience, and growing your skill set is a more effective way to advance your cloud career.
💡 Key Takeaway: Certifications can open doors, but skills and real-world experience build bridges. Don’t get stuck in the certification rabbit hole-focus on what truly matters for your career growth.
👍 Enjoyed this video? Don’t forget to smash that like button, share it with your friends who might be drowning in certification books, and subscribe to our channel for more no-nonsense cloud content. Let’s keep the conversation going in the comments-what’s your take on cloud certifications?

Another important point is that nowadays certifications are like subscriptions because most of them have expiration date between 1 to 3 years.

It is true things are changing in the cloud space rapidly but certification holds a value if you are doing it honestly not just buy buying the dumps and clearing the exam based on your memory to remember the questions and answers

The Azure certifications are only valid for 1 year but renewing the certification involves only learning what is new and then doing an online unproctored test on the delta which you can take multiple times for free

It maybe a "pipeline" for cloud career : 1) gain relevant knowledge (take online course), 2) take the exam (certificates), 3) seek for job entry and 4) get real experience from working. In fact it is difficult to skip the first 2 steps for getting a cloud job. And there is a barrier to get real experience, since it involves much costs to take any testing or deployment from cloud.

As Rahul said, it’s correct, but one more thing here, my roommate and I last month applied to various companies. I was not getting single, but my roommate has 2 certifications, which is why he is getting lots of calls. We had the same resume with the same skills set, and he got selected in Amazon. Agree. Would like to add... After 2 weeks most cert knowledge starts to vanish from your life...which is traumatic and embarassing when an interview comes up in future. 2ndly my advise is to always achieve the entry level cert for the domain/goal you see yourself to be targetting. Those certs are the MOST helpful as they retain the foundational knowledge mandatory for the journey ahead ... going further with leveling up the certs convolutes your basics and you end up with confusion and frustration I know more confident and smarter Network Engineers with a CCNA than CCIEs who got lost under the "passing the expensive certification" pressures. DNT GO TOO IN DEPTH INTO CERTS..IT WILL RUIN YOUR YOUTH. Find excuses to engage in team wotk based experience. Youll never forget those.

How will you get a job interview if you don't have any certification, the recruiter won't even pick your resume. After getting the interview, then the certifications are useless that's when you need to show your skills. Certifications give you a chance to enter the door if you are a beginner, without them why will they interview you compared to someone who has certifications plus some projects. You are competing with the best, you have to have extra papers to get the chance to be interviewed.

I see no issue with getting cert and telling people to stay away is foolish. Cert are not the one all be all but they are part of the package. There are real shortages in many area and you you going out and just practicing to get hand on and skill is not enough and all that posting on Stack Overflow will never been seen by HR and will only work for a small percentage of jobs. The truth is you need a combination of things to be valuable to companies and the cert, labs, projects, and networking are all part of it.

There should be a balance on both. Most of current jobs require you to have a valid certificate to apply. Skills alone will make it difficult for job. Same with cerficiations alone without skills. Most of cerficiate collectors including me does that because most of those come at a free of cost and we should take them as patnership requiments require people to be certified. And I also feel that as most of the cetifications is an mcq and mostly towards their service. Let it be aws or gcp or anything. It should come at a nominal free if its going to be expired. Even Kubernetes Certification have shortened their validity from 3 to 2 years. For Kubernetes the cost can be justified as they have to maintain a heavy server and the exam is hands on. But I still don't know why a provider is charging heavily for a certification that promotes their business. Also from one certification to a lot of certifications is where we are at even for a single provider. And the point should be more of certifications are good if you learn and attend rather than check dumps and pass.

In these days where 90% of resumes are thrown out, imagine what will happen if you don't mention certs.. The problem does lie on the certification. It is the problem of the industry. The recruiter is not actually sure what they want from the candidate. If a candidate is not from the HR's cherished source, then you will be interviewed that you don't have any idea about. I myself is the proof. I am an MCA from a central university and also certified Linux admin in available as well as holder of CCNA. I answered all the questions of Linux and networking. Suddenly the discussion moved to cloud in which I am not an expert. Still answered one of two questions. At the end, their reply was I don't have necessary qualification and experience in cloud. But the post was of Linux admin😅 they want a shirt of such a size that will fit everyone. Situation of Indian IT industry is grim and videos like yours are making the protective candidates more confused. You yourself are confused and therefore try to confuse others too.😮 Indian IT a junk.😮

I don't agree with this completely. Certificates are valuable at 2 levels, entry level and professional level. Anyone doing IT should get atleast the fundamental certificate in their area of experience. This gives new hires a bit more noticeability over people who are fresh out of college with no work experience and it shows your employer you are willing to make an effort to upskill yourself. I have noticed hard requirements for professional level certifications in senior/lead/principal roles. Just because you did the same thing for 7 years doesn't mean you have the in depth knowledge that these professional level certifications test you on. Outside of entry level / top level certifications in the area of your expertise, there is no need for certifications imo.

I am currently working as a QA engineer, but I am looking to transition to a role as a data analyst or data engineer. Is this possible?
@RahulWagh
@RahulWagh 25 күн бұрын
Yes it is possible first learn the basic of clouds before even trying to directly jumping on the data engineering topics. Focus on network vpc how resources are deployed managed then learn the data engineering

My point is focus on certification which bring in value for your day to day job and do it honestly not just by buying online exam questions dumps and clearing the exam without even putting effort to learn the topic
