The boat is called "Paradise" and they filled it which what looks to be things they either treasure or it's what they think is important and you noticed how they slowly started sinking? I think the message is that people fill their lives with materialistic things and it doesn't make them happy. That's why everyone was a clown that frowns. Put on a show of happiness, but you're actually shallow inside and sad. They see what they want but never really work for it (hence the gym mirror scene).

First time I've listened to it but I would suggest that it has something to do with modern society, materialism and the growing pressures people feel in their every day life to keep up.

There is no perfect answer, but the crossing of the river can be a strong symbol of death and passing into the next life. If we assume this, then it can easily be seen as a warning against materialism, wasting life, and vanity. There is an old adage "You can't take it with you" and this video would be a beautiful portrayal of such. To me it is beautiful every way you look at it. "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul."
