I think you're mistunderstanding the implication of the two pillows on one bed in the motel room. When you interact with the bed as Ashley, she thinks something along the lines of "Leave it to Andrew to get a room with two beds, only for him to have a panic attack every other night." The first chapter shows us what happens when Andrew has trouble sleeping; he goes to Ashley so that she can comfort him and he finally manages to sleep when joining her in the same bed. Very interestingly, if you examine the bed as Andrew (when playing as him before the hitman comes, when you're supposed to be investigating the cultists), his thoughts reveal that he sometimes fakes his nightmares. Now why would he do that...? :)

This game is an endless piece of traumas, personalities, confused feelings, and... Everything that I don't know how to differentiate, this game made me question my moral ability, and I adapted so well to that environment that I ended up losing our feelings. The entire game made me question, 'What am I thinking? Why am I enjoying this?' My God, what am I doing? Simply a work of art. Why did the views suspiciously increase when it reached the end of the game? Well, I don't even want to imagine.

4:45 I’m pretty sure the implication isn’t that Ashley stole both of their pillows, but it’s a bit deeper than that. Based on her dialogue when you interact with the bed and also one of her voice lines to Julie, Andrew joins Ashley on her bed every time he gets a panic attack due to his PTSD-induced nightmares. This got conditioned into being his coping mechanism. And . . . . . . If you follow the uhh incest route, when Andrew became more and more desensitized to the horrific shit that they do, the reason Ashley felt unnerved was because she was afraid Andrew won’t be dependent on her for that anymore. Andrew’s PTSD is one of the things keeping him so close to her, since SHE is his coping mechanism. If it’s true that he got better and the nightmares stopped like he said, she’s just lost a huge leverage over him. This, I believe, is gonna tie into how they’ll end up doing the unspeakable, as the vision had Ashley realize that she could make use of the fact that Andrew had repressed sexual attraction to her (yes, that is true, look closely at some of the CGs as well as their dialogue after the vision) to bind him to her once again. . . . . . . .

Regarding him sleeping with Ashley for coping mechanism, it's partially true. If you approach Ashley's bed in the motel as Andrew, there's a dialogue saying he fakes it sometimes. Chapter 2 really shows his sister obsession is not-one sided.

@@TheWinteRose Oh yeah definitely, the one with more incestuous tendencies is actually Andrew, as revealed by Chapter 2. Sleeping with Ashley is his coping mechanism, but (probably because of this) he also harbors romantic/sexual attraction towards Ashley. Very fucked up and well-written dynamic.

@@macrosis1674 I had my suspicions in Chapter 1 with how upset he was when Ashley suggests sleeping with cultist and warden for their benefit but concludes it being big brother instinct. To read his thoughts during his nightmare, his past with his ex and their childhood friend really shows how obsessed he is with Ashley. He's just more subtle than Ashley all along. I'm more surprised that Ashley's love for Andrew is more ambiguous. She loves him yes but what kind of love does she harbor? To her, she'll be fine as long as Andrew is with her. She'll use whatever at her disposal to keep him by her side. Her ambiguity add some mystery to the story. Their dynamic is toxic but boy, do I find them interesting.
