@@Paidbot56 Simply put, today's Republican Party is morally and ideologically bankrupt. Trump is just the symptom that finally made the dysfunction part of the party platform reality, so takes the most credit for its deterioration, but the rot started with toxic flagbearers like Lee Atwater, Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbutt and their take no prisoners, hate-filled anti-Dem rhetoric and government is the enemy messaging. The party now has no plans to help the American people other than fielding candidates who embrace QAnon conspiracies, racism and portraying Dems as made up of child-raping, cannibalistic pedophiles. It would all be funny if their demented messaging wasn't so tragically real to millions of MAGAs. Some of the new crop of GOP candidates who represent this sh*t were up for the mid-term elections in 2022, and thankfully most Trump-backed candidates lost, which shows even with all the gerrymandering, anti-vote legislation R's passed to try and insure them winning there are "still" enough sane, honest voters in this country that reject such craven nonsense. Unfortunately, we still have Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Paul Gosar-type crazy nutjobs in our government. Sorry, but I'll take the Dems over "that" lot of cretins any day of the week and twice on Sunday. But all that changed with the reelection of Trump, which evidently tens of millions of Americans think is their savior instead of what he really is: a narcissistic, fascist wannabe who cares about them about as much as his hired help at Mar-A-Lago. What Trump represents is the acceleration of decay and rot, which will only increase. And we have no one to blame but ourselves.

They banded around the concept of localism a few years ago. I live in Spain and you can see this in action. I live in a medium sized town and you don't see the starbucks or Macdonalds or any of the big multinationals. As a result there are numerous cafes and small enterprises that would otherwise be put out of business. This creates employment and keeps the profits within the town.

I'm 62 yrs old. My uncle warned me, when I was 12, if we continue buying foreign products, give our money to big box stores, Walmart, Costco, etc., (big corporations) we wont have to worry about other nations destroying us, cause we will destroy the American economy , and here we are. No one has listened to me for 40 yrs, so I'm sharing Wolff's videos, hoping these videos will open their eyes.

The collapse of empires dont happen suddenly, but gradually. I wrote my masters research dissertation (political science) in 2007 and the evidence then said America was collapsing economically and socially. Some say the fact that terrorists were even able to get to the twin towers was a sign of the end of US hegemony. I see the wars of Iraq and Afghanistan now, not as a 'world police action' (justice), preventative measure (pre-emptive strike) or revenge, but more as an American action to deny what was happening ie the loss of global power.

The reason why the wages are so low at 7,25 , is to benefit the rich ( billionaires and corporations) The system in the US is not made for the regular people only for those who are filthy rich In Denmark wages are raised every two year by law….. and this is minimum. Some companies give their employees a raise every year…. Even our social security follow the regular and normal inflation…..

The US has come to a standstill in the 90s. The US didn't even need it. To build a high-speed rail network. China has done business with other nations that the goods from China to Europe go by train and vice versa. It's cheaper and faster, that's on top of that. There are not even direct flights from the US to Vladivostok, Russia. Oh the project: a rail connection from Alaska to Russia and then to China. Goods come to North America faster and cheaper. China is building a high-speed train line together with Russia, how connected Beijing with Moscow. The US must jump over their own shadow otherwise they will isolate themselves from the world. Because the world doesn't need the US, but the US needs the world.

I think the average American should not fear the end of the empire and actually look forward to it. Some people will disagree with me but when I hear 'end of the empire' I don't necessarily equate it to 'end of the US'. I think the 'empire business' is what is hurting the country. If it was just a regular country, it would be forced to look inward. Not saying that all current issues will suddenly disappear but I feel some really would. Ok, it would no longer be the top dog but the regular people would be a lot happier. Merely a theory so if you think I got my head in the clouds, I wouldn't argue much to the contrary.
@PIESvcs
@PIESvcs 5 күн бұрын
The problem with the 'end of empire' is concentration of power in authoritarian nations and rulers. Xi is not quiet, the western media doesn't reveal his hand on economic dominance and enforces compliance. Young, middle class Chinese want 'work-life balance', but their rulers enslave them with excessive hours and demands. That culture has already arrived in the US with business leaders like Musk. Business leaders (CEO's) are 'dropping like flies' (leaving with golden handshakes) because they cannot navigate the stress and confusion of simply producing when 'the market' demands ever increasing profits that look like limitations of inflation, but are really the domination of monopoly powers that dictate price. Be careful what you wish for, but grow a garden, raise some chickens and seek self sufficiency.

@@PIESvcs My argument to that is that the US being an empire NOW has not prevented any of that from happening. I don't like Musk but it's naive to think he is the sole culprit of an excessive work culture. I still think the US GRADUALLY ceasing being an empire would be beneficial to the average American. For one thing, we would get rid of the industrial military complex which sucks all the money that should be allocated to improving infrastructure, social programs and god forbid, an actual comprehensive universal healthcare program. Again, not being an empire does NOT necessarily mean being reduced to a third world country (although some might argue it's already there based on the situation on the ground in a lot of cities). Just be a country that stops fucking around with other nations and focus on taking care of your own people.

One of the reasons the professor does not address for the difference in growth and activity of the two economies, Chinese and American, could easily be that the Chinese are addressing a much larger cohort of consumers and the people who in general because of their activity can cause the numbers to seem higher. In other words China has so many more people to address that of course its economy would have to grow just while it's addressing the massive numbers of people that is head which of course America does not have. OKI never left

Your story is like trying to the greenies CO2 is not poison. Or saying nuclear power is not causing global warming. The voice crying in the wilderness. Your message and the way you present it is far too logical to be believed. I am Canadian and, as a senior on pension, have been for years felt the weight of government policies that you describe. I fear for the life style and living standard of my grandchildren. Rome was a great power. Italy is a tiny shadow of what Rome was. Spain and Portugal as well. England is close behind. Sorry to say it, but Canada has it's canoe firmly tied to the "Titanic" headed out to sea.
