I love John Murray's work! He's so underrated abd deserves to be more widely read. My favorite living theologian, John Frame, has said he regularly references John Murray, which reflects the greatness of the man (both men!). By the way, Murray married vrry late in life, after retirement, and he had a son who today is a physician (pediatrician) as well as a faithful elder at a Reformed Presbyterian church. Murray's legacy lives on! 😊

Nice! I just got my set last week as well. I am working my way through volume 1. 1-2 chapters a day as they are very short! Debating if I want to read volume 2 or 4 alongside it.

Had negative experience(s) with theology class in Bible college. Instructors are versed in what this or that person thinks rather than what God's word says. And because of the proliferation of liberal scholars, often these theology instructors go liberal themselves. I don't like to point people to Christian books; I direct people to the Word of God. There are deeper levels to God's word then we commonly hear. 99.9% is swallow doctrine. What's good? For example, Echoes of the Old Testament - Peter J. Williams Also: Hebrew Poetry and chiastic structures that highlight and guide a reader to stressed points.
