Waller apologizing about Flag dying is crazy when she did what she could to guarantee his death during his last mission. In a deleted scene for the last SS, Blood sport and Flag were discussing why she'd put him on a situation where he'd more than likely die, we saw a flashback where he made a joke about a shirt she was wearing and dyed beard started laughing like it was the funniest thing he heard while Waller was staring daggers into Rick. She has too much power to be that petty about something like that.

James Gunn has stated that not everything from TSS and Peacemaker is canon, only what is explicity told, for example: -Amanda's daughter outing her -Rick Flag dying -The mission from TSS seems to be canon, but to an extend -Project buttlerfly also seems to be canon Things that we know aren't canon anymore: -JL appearing in the finale of Peacemaker -Every reference Peacemaker made about superman -Bloodsport sending Superman to the ICU Just some examples from the top of my head.

I love that even though the new DC Universe is an almost complete reboot of the DCEU, Gunn is still using his characters from The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. Hopefully he’ll actually explain in universe how that’s possible, but even if he doesn’t I’m alright with it, because I love these characters to much to lose them to a reboot.

It’s a decent show so far but it does sadly keep the meme that James Gunn can only write and direct comedic shows and movies which has me worried for his take on darker characters within DC. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy a good comedic joke every now and then but just like how not everything had to all dark and broody in the Snyderverse not everything has to be light and comical either. Fingers crossed some of the other projects will be a little edgier or at least less comedic
