How many weeks post surgery until you returned to bjj? I’m 9 weeks post op and hopefully looking to get back to jits soon (just no rolling for a while)

I haven’t returned bro. Im not sure if i want to risk anymore injuries. Maybe ill give another year to see how it goes. Its something you need to think about in terms of re-rupture can occur .

Get better Ranjit. Hope you wear squat shoes to avoid back disc injury like I had.

Your back inury is most likely from poor form and years of it. Generally people use “squat shoes” for olympic lifting. And because the base/sole of the shoe is flat and doesnt allow the shoe to raise from the sides etc, or atleast stops it as much as possibile. Generally alot of people do not squat with variation/ box squat, different bars. Etc. i believe this is also what gives you a good squat. Flat shoes depending on athlete and mobility is fine.

Also squat shoes are very good. Allows better mobility and more of a upright squat, people with bad ankle mobility also use squat shoes. For me Personally ive used then years before, i prefer the flat shoes as i feel better and more natural when i squat, with balance.

@@RanjitBhachu yes indeed my ankle mobility is poor. Thanks for your knowledge about squatting. My back is fine after 2 years of small disc tear. (No herniation).
