I’m all for artists creating the music they want, but I just have such a hard time believing that all of these classic 08-13 metalcore bands all truly deeply want to create Generic Stadium Rock With A Mild Breakdown because something about it resonates so strongly with them. It’s so nice to have a band know what they’re good at and just create what we’ve been wanting since they left.
@emeyer2323 Жыл бұрын
Honestly very well said, I couldn’t agree more. I basically have kept maybe like 15 bands around who transformed into Pop stadium rock because I ain’t gonna lie, sometimes I love that shit driving home from work. But Metalcore, heavy metal etc. needs to stick with certain bands because you are correct I can’t imagine 10 years ago being in a band making Heavy Metal and just being comfortable transitioning into something that is not even close to what they used to sound like.
@coleG112 Жыл бұрын
@@emeyer2323 Yeah, I don’t have ANY issue with the artists that *do* go that route. I enjoy Asking’s or Architects’ new stuff when I’m in the mood for it. But even Mike Shinoda acknowledged it, when they finally dropped Fighting Myself and now they had TWO old school-style singles at the top of their charts, he was like “I always said ‘nooo we can’t just do the same thing we did before. We gotta be new and different every time’ and now I look at Lost and I go ‘oh…crap’” Like when Mike Shinoda, the NFT huffing, AI art pushing, “we MUST innovate with every album” guy admits that sometimes it’s okay to stick to what people love you for, that’s when you know there’s been a shift in the culture
@coleG112 Жыл бұрын
@@emeyer2323 And I feel the same about video games tbh. I don’t need GTA 6 to be “different from any GTA we’ve played before” like the Take 2 guy said. I need it to be the good GTA game that we all know and love. I don’t need Halo to be a competitive almost-hero-shooter. I need it to be the power fantasy, fun-first party game we all grew up with and are begging for.

@@coleG112 Dam Cole you’re speaking my language again.. literally me and video games (especially Halo) making me feel like I was traveling across galaxies with a .50 cal armor penetrating Sniper, still my favorite experience and memory of all time, Halo launching all the way back in 2001 and just being obsessed and blown away by a video game. Literally answered prayers and fantasies I didn’t even know I had until then. Good talking bro!
