Pro-wrestling is a massive interest for me and because of that I usually don't love how it's portrayed in other media. But Do a powerbomb perfectly encapsulates everything I love about the medium. it's the first comic I ever collected completely and everyone who hasn't read it should change that immediately.

D.W.J is such a creative writer and artist. His work on the Sky bound Transformers is probably my favorite version of that franchise. A huge recommendation.

Image allows you to read the first issue for free, and holy crap are you right. The death at the start was done in a heart wrenching way, and I already am sucked in. I also have zero interest in pro wrestling, so I was iffy on whether it'd hook me the same but it still did. The build up towards the match, the clearly communicated relationships without, the excitement over Yua's entry, the booing at Cobrasun. The way that Cobrasun immediately starts freaking out and trying to explain it was an accident when he slipped, the way that Lona needs to be pulled away as Yua is loaded onto a stretcher and taken away to the hospital, the palpable tension while they wait, the way Lona thinks back on memories, then the confirmation that she has passed, and the fact it was conveyed in 14 short pages. What a strong gut punch, even seeing it coming. I absolutely must finish this now, and if it's good it may just make it onto the short list of comics I seek out a physical copy of.
