This is a very interesting discussion, I really agree with bio-vocational minister but I also think that it gives room for many pastors to quit ministry when the going gets tough in ministry since they have something going on financially for them. I really think we should embrace the kingdom culture in today's Christianity whereby, bigger churches will take up the responsibility of the stability of growing genuine ministries till they get up on their feet and then they can also do for upcoming ministry like them. To the ideas at 15:00. Building teams where the pastor doesn't do all. I ask this kindly, gently (more than text can communicate): I was taught the "Pastor-as-Corporate-Leader" and build teams. The whatchword: "Delegate!" If a pastor takes a FT salary. Yet delegates so many tasks away to (unpaid) others, should the pastor take a FT salary? Becomes a deep question, a cold question, of "What do we pay you to do as a pastor?" And then that leads to the idea of creating a "Consumer" culture where a pastor is merely a provider of goods and services, value given for value provided. What is pastoral . . ."productivity"? Please hear this as an honnest question. One that troubles me having been on both sides of this.

I never been an "full time ministry" I have had an opposite experience with Bivocational ministry. I used to work 5-6 days a week in the IT industry and preach on Sunday (once a month). It was emotionally draining.
