My cousin had a band for years (rock 'n roll), used to play at clubs, etc. , back in Cali, and, after he saw this movie, he said it was so uncanny on just how the directors and actors got it right with all the band members fighting & haggling all the time, all wanting to be the lead member, the headliner ... Quite a show ... great soundtrack!

1990s. Waiting on a court hearing to start. Me, the other lawyer, judge, court reporter. We started talking about movies. I told them about "The Commitments", tried to get all that good stuff across, but nobody was getting it. Then I said, "Wait a minute". Broke out with "Roid, Sally, Roid". Then they got it. And loved it. Never forgotten that.
