This song became a small hit in Belgium and NL when the Belgian film 'the broken circle breakdown' came out in 2012. The version of that film is the most haunting version I've ever heard. (Even more after I saw the film) The film was also Oscar nominated, but didn't win. (The monologue critiquing the US in the film probably didn't help) The film is an heartbreaking film about about a Belgian couple dealing with life, love and grieve. .. and a lot of bluegrass, because the leads play in a bluegrass band. 'wayfaring stranger ' from that film is probably even more haunting/heart breaking. I can really recommend the film and soundtrack for those who don't know it. I think I've seen it passing by on prime and HBO, for those who want to see it.

There’s a very sweet scene in the film Stepmom with Julia Roberts softly singing this song to one of her step kids in the hospital. This was filmed a few years after she and Lyle Lovett divorced, so that added a little extra level of depth to that scene. 🥹❤️‍🩹

I'm a fan of Ilse right from the start when she had her first hitrecord "I'm not so tough", that was in 1998. Saw her live after she released her first album and she's still the same funny, warm person. Recently she travelled through Tennessee and made a documentary about Dolly Parton "Dolly for president". She and Waylon had disagreements and parted ways not long after they performed at the Eurovision Songfestival.

I now that Ilse and Waylon have made up after years of disagreement, but performing together has not happened until now. Such a shame because their music and voices matched each other perfectly. I think from what l've heard, Waylon is open to a return to the Common Linnets. That would be fantastic. We'll see.

Glad you are back! One of the many downfalls of being back in the land of food with chemicals. Not to mention everything in America is "NOW WITH EXTRA SUGAR AND SODIUM". Need to get my ass back to Thailand! It's been a health struggle but I'm doing what I can to get fit again. Hiking 7 Kilometers a day now. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year didn't help either...

Unfortunately after the Eurovision Song Contest they no longer speak to each other, something happened there that they didn't really make public, they each went their own way again , there are sometimes whispers in the wanderings of a come back, but I think it is chance is very small
