Influenced by his love for chant and classical music, composer and pastoral musician James Poppleton composed a setting of the shorter poetic text of the Sequence for the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. This combination of official text and music invites the assembly to prayerfully reflect on the mystery of the Eucharist.

This Sequence setting leads immediately into the Alleluia and verse before the Gospel, thus providing a seamless flow between the second and Gospel readings of the day.
The Commons is a series of unplugged interviews with the top Catholic recording artists. These are candid interviews and intimate performances by the top contemporary Catholic musicians.

I am so moved by your Corpus Christe Sequence. I'm Cantoring at Mass this morning and am so excited and filled with the Holy Spirit when offering this BEAUTIFUL Sequence to our God and congregation. You two are very much blest!

This is such a beautiful piece!!! I find myself playing it here at home long after the feast of Corpus Christi and wish it could be used throughout the year! I will look forward playing it again at Mass next year on the beautiful feast of Corpus Christi!

Thank you I used this sequence on Sunday. Went very well. There was such a peaceful quiet mood settled over the congregation. Some sang along with me. Thank you so much

Absolutely beautiful voice and lovely arrangement and accompaniment. It's simple enough for me to do it acapella at Mass this weekend although I couldn't hold a candle to Jenny and James.

Hi, James, this artful setting by you and Scott of a somewhat obscure Sequence makes it much more meaningful and relevant to me, and Jenny's magnificent interpretation of your work in song always makes it a joy for me to hear. I wish we could use this more than just one liturgical day. Best wishes, and please continue your beautiful and artistic work!

I wish you would write the rest of the mass parts to go with this music. I love the way the sequence is and I love the alleluia. I have been using the alleluia from this for the mass when I am music leader.

I’m finding this difficult to learn (loudest and least musically-educated cantor at my church). This performance helps. Some intervals are tricky and to me counterintuitive (I can’t sight-read really) but God willing I will manage it. Considering some of the weird stuff I hear in Bach cantatas I should not kvetch…

Stay relaxed. Also, if you can make siren sounds you'll be fine. Just keep the air flowing as if you are making siren sounds while singing the regular pitch.

James, Jenny, thank you. I have canted the original Chant in English and Latin. Your setting - from your focus on the Lord - might be what will bring my new community to Him. I will search through our OCP friends. If you can send a link, I - and they - would be grateful.

Hi James - I would love to hear this done with classical guitar and the same voice. Would you be willing to such a version that emphasizes the beauty of her voice? I think it would be magnificent. An idea any way.
