One of the most recognisable Historical figures is Mahatma Gandhi, who helped India to gain independence through a series of non-violent protests and demonstrations. Throughout his life, he was arrested a number of times and was considered a troublemaker by others. However despite living a very peaceful life and being devoted to nonviolent protesting, he was brutally assassinated and killed by Nathuram Godse. Godse was a man who was against Gandhi's peaceful methods, and despite Gandhi being in his 70s, Godse attacked.
He fired his pistol into Gandhi killing him, and then following this was placed on trial for murder. There were some who sympathised with Godse, but he was sentenced to death and inside of Ambala Prison he was executed on the gallows there. In his final moments, Godse wanted the others imprisoned for being his accomplices to be freed, and he blamed himself for the death of Mahatma Gandhi.
