I have about 1200 hours in the game, with the vast majority on Bard, and I can confirm that this is a great guide for anyone trying to learn the class. I do have a couple tips and notes to add though. This first tip is aimed at new bards who haven't already gained the muscle memory for their main buff rotation. I would highly recommend setting up your songs so that your long term buffs are all on 1 wheel, while the rest of your utility/combat songs are on the other. This can make keeping track of 10 songs easier, as 1 wheel is dedicated to a buff rotation once every 1-2 minutes while the other is isolated to learning the right song for the right situation. I would also recommend setting up your "buff wheel" in a clockwise/counter clockwise order to help reduce the learning curve of remembering what order to play your buffs in. For Example: Rousing Rythms in the top slot; Beats of Alacrity in the slot to the left/right; Harmonic Shield in the slot below Beats; Ballad of Courage next to Shield; then Aria of Alacrity in the last slot. The next tip is for setting up your instruments at the squire to allow for easier learning and quality of life when quickly equipping non-instrument utility items. In this video, RemimeR mentioned keeping the top slot on the left action bar (3 as the default bind) open (16:46), which is VERY useful. So I would recommend swapping the items RemimeR has equipped at 16:54 to the other action bar, then swapping the potion and flute. Meaning the left bar would look like Potion; Flute; Torches and the right bar would look like Drum; Lyre; Lute (from top to bottom). I would also like to explain why it's important to keep the flute on one bar, while the other 3 instruments are on the other and why they're in the Drum->Lyre->Lute order. The reason the flute is isolated from the rest is because Shriek of weakness is By Far bard's most powerful song, so it's important to get that song off ASAP in a fight, and it's much easier to do so when you dont have to fumble through your other instruments to get to the flute. And the reason for the Drum->Lyre->Lute order is to help with the main buff rotation while also being combat ready. You start with the drum because rousing rythms gives you knowledge to play extra songs, while the will and resourcefulness makes your buffs last longer. The rest of your buff order doesn't matter too much, but it's convenient to have the Lute be your last instrument because of the combat utility of Song of Silence and Lament of Languor, while also allowing you to switch to the Drum quickly to play Allegro. Here I have a couple of more nitpicky notes regarding the video. In the stats sections of the solo/duo/trio builds, you would only need 13 strength to avoid getting negative phys dmg bonus, because of the +2 strength from rousing rythms. I would also argue that because of how niche and slow Din of Darkness is, that it would be more of a Never Take song, at least until it's scaling gets buffed. And least important nitpick of all: I'm pretty sure aria is pronounced as Arr-ee-uh rather than Arr-ee-ay, however, I'm pretty sure we all know what you meant, so ultimately it doesn't really matter. All in all, this was a great video for bards trying to improve their effectiveness. Oh and, sorry for the long yap sesh, but good luck to anyone who read this far.

@@ardyh8789 great tips, thanks for the additional insight 👍 As for "Aria of Alacrity" I actually looked up how to pronounce it from Webster's and just copied how they said it, so as weird as it sounds I think it's right lol. Also, I like to have 15 base strength in case I don't have rousing up, because of wisps or bad timing.
@ardyh878912 сағат бұрын
@Remimer25 I'll admit I may be wrong about about aria's pronunciation, I've heard it "my way" before in an indie game, but Webster is definitely more reputable, lol. The rest are all great points though too. Your video has also inspired me to use reinforced instruments in my standard bard loadouts.

Very well made and thorough exposition! I was going to mention the bit about accelerando removing the particle effects but you mentioned that towards the end. Only other thing I could think of is playing rousing rhythms twice to make it last longer... that song never seems to last 2 minutes og. I've seen you play quite a bit, maybe I'll try chucking some drums at people haha

@@_jsonV yea, they said they updated it to 120 seconds, but I think it's still 90.

18:50 you actually only need 13 strength to not get negative power bonus because of rousing. If you are running grimsmiles then you will go above 13 but if you’re running vitality rings then it’s important.
@Remimer2519 сағат бұрын
@@thesilentninja9 true, I just like to have 15 without rousing in case I get caught in a fight without the buff up. However, I've only had to fight a few times without buffs, and I think it was because of wisps.

With around 800 hrs on bard its hard to learn anything new about the class anymore. Im probably not really throwing enough drums but maybe ill use some reinforced instruments to force myself to do it more. Im mostly playing trios where it can be hard to get the drums back. I can say this guide is really solid, good job! Tip for jolly time users: Use the lowest graphic settings on the fourth option, u will almost see no drunk effect or from bat screams

@15:30 you say: "Use rapier mastery instead of war song or if you find a good rapier... next use rapier mastery? Was that a joke that flew over my head or mistake?
@Remimer2517 сағат бұрын
It's kinda dependent on what you're doing. If you're going in just to boss or fight people in sub 25, you're gonna be using the rapier as a base weapon, so it's good to use the perk. However, if you're trying to loot up and go to inferno probably don't run it. I didn't explain that very well in the vid tho :/

Well said. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts about matchups. Which are easy and which are difficult. In solos of course. Someone could learn a bit about solos matchups and extrapolate some of it to trios. Also accelerando might be useful in solos if you cast it as someone opens a door and tries to kite you because they are chasing you. Ranger or wizard pretty much.
@Remimer2519 сағат бұрын
@@bennyandthejets9247 my toughest matchups are probably wizard, warlock, andb ranger, in that order. It really depends where I'm fighting them, but I always struggle against those classes. Any other matchup is pretty much a guaranteed W if I get my win conditions. As for accelerando, lament of langer would pretty much do the same thing, it's 5 ms less but it lasts longer.

Isn't Shriek of Weakness even better against low-armor opponents? Especially something like a speed barb will have low armor rating, and reducing that by a further 30 can make a huge difference in making their low armor rating atrociously low. Meanwhile a 200 AR fighter will still be super tanky at 170 AR. Maybe I'm wrong here, I haven't looked at the numbers specifically, I just noticed in my time playing that when you have low armor, a single boost of 15 or more AR can make quite the difference, whereas it falls off at higher AR values
@Remimer259 сағат бұрын
On some barbs, often when they activate rage or reckless strike, it can bring them into the negative PDR range, so in that sense yes. However, reducing 20% PDR to 15% PDR isn't really gonna influence the fight that often. Where as bringing a fighter from 55% PDR to 50% is absolutely massive because of how the "effective health" curve works at higher PDR levels.

removing particles after accelerando/allegro doesnt work. It removes only from your perspective or if someone in your render distance. If u did it and then someone enter your render distance he will see you anyway. Died so many times by trying to do this stuff. Ppl just saying me that they are see me. It doesnt record on death cam btw, so i was asking dudes that kill me, how the fuck they seen me. And they just sayd that they see a particles around me. Maybe they are all was cheaters i dont know, but it is what it is
