Pro tip for noobs starting off league: try your best to ignore the toxicity. Some people in this game are genuinely toxic, but there are some chill people too. Find yourself a friend who doesn’t care too much about losing matches and go have a blast poking fun at annoying toxic people. This game can be really fun, you just have to have the right mindset.

Yo SCCLG, I have wanted to make a video like this to share with friends for awhile. Although, I think this is a bit too technical, and you reference a lot of League terminology in your fundamental descriptions. This can be THE hardest type of teaching video to create. I know it takes a massive amount of planning. I have some suggestions if you guys are interested. Above all, don't try to explain too much and try to keep it at about 10 minutes. Maybe I am thinking of a different type of video though (for an even broader audience), but I see a game intro video as a type of sales pitch. I think it is worth making another video like this (maybe a bit later). I know I would appreciate something I could show my grandmother to explain the difference between esports and conventional video games, something that will help my mother understand that League cannot be paused, and something that shows how cool League esports can be ( I often show people clips from the 2017 World Championship kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJ-YnIZ5n5KJhK8 ).

so league of legends is basically a modernized, more complex version of chess.
@lightisbetterthanlight5663 жыл бұрын
I dunno about more complex but your first description is right.
@samusaran47993 жыл бұрын
@@lightisbetterthanlight566 it's definitely more complex... there are way more variables from champion matchups to RNG plants to RNG drakes and infinite pathing possibilities as well as teamfight positioning and resource management. You can build a chess engine to run millions of game simulations which are all valid variations of all future and past games. You can't build a league engine that will predict the flow of a game with any amount of acceptable or comparable accuracy to the chess engine
@lightisbetterthanlight5663 жыл бұрын
@@samusaran4799 yes, but you are failing to acknowledge the fact that LoL is based on team play, which brings in a whole new set of variables. In Chess, whether you win or lose the game depends completely on the accuracy of your moves. In LoL, you only control one character, which means that you are actually just controlling 1 piece on the board and your teammates would be controlling the other remaining pieces. This means that you could play perfectly, but still lose because of your teammates. This means that Lol is more teamwork and coordination based. This is also why engines will not work, Lol is not a calculation based game, it is teamwork, coordination, and obviously strategy, and all these are dependent on human communication, which engines can’t simulate nor replicate. Obviously, I am not saying Lol is easier than Chess, I am just saying it is dependent on other things that don’t necessarily relate to “Complexity” but rather to how well you can communicate with others and how fast you can think (Which are complex things, but that’s not what complex means in this context). There are after all like 10^120 possible games of chess so I would not believe you if you said League was more complicated than Chess. Chess is so advanced that it is literally more complicated than our universe (Maybe not MORE, but definitely rivals the universes complexity). HOWEVER, do take all this with a grain of salt because I might be wrong. I don’t actually play Lol, I came here to see what it was like. One of my chess buddies plays it, so I figured I would look at it.
@samusaran47993 жыл бұрын
@@lightisbetterthanlight566 you’re failing to realize that the one piece you do control is 1/150 possible pieces you can choose which each have individual movements, abilities, itemization options, and play style. And the positioning and movement is not locked to a grid system but instead it’s free of any constraints which open up way more options. Chess is not complicated, it’s simple by its very nature. Simple rules, simple win condition, restricted piece movement. What makes it difficult is understanding the potential of each piece on the board and capitalizing on it. LoL is the same but with many more rules, way more pieces to play and play styles to memorize playing and playing against. My point is this. You’ve experienced newbies play chess and they’re terrible because their game sense and logic is weak, not their knowledge of “wait how does this piece move?”. Try playing league. You will 100% be overwhelmed by all the things you need to learn just to perform at a novice level.

I finally asked some friends for help, but they weren’t great at explaining things either, and I just had to learn slowly through experience and watching a lot of random league videos. For ADC I definitely would have recommended Caitlyn over Jinx. Jinx would be more difficult to play for newcomers because she has quite a few skillshots,Whereas Caitlyn is kind of braindead
@pranayharsha.k94803 жыл бұрын
lmao no, jinx is purely auto caitlyn actually has 2more impactful skill shots (q,e) when you dont take jinx's ult into account plus most of the time you will just be out dps'ing them with jinx so her ult wont matter too much
@regretsin85022 жыл бұрын
I've been playing for 2 years and Cait is still to hard for me lmao I dont think anyone has stepped on a trap a single time ever I went like 0/11/1 last game on her send help
@PJSM942 жыл бұрын
cait definitely has way more skill expression with traps and E. Jinx's only skillshots are not that important comparatively.

That's basically the only guide for true beginners. Everyone else is just talking about specific champion combinations, and specific strategies. This game was hard enough to learn 10 years ago but now it's even harder.

Honestly there is no shame in just sticking to intermediate bot games until you feel comfortable with a character that you understand how they function. The hardest part is learning how to counter 155 characters.

Dead by Daylight definitely takes the cake when it comes to overall toxicity but man MOBAs really have their own unique brand of assholes don't they? Quit dota a few years back because of it, only reason I'm looking into LoL now is cause I have more than a full teams worth of friends that play it.

Been grinding the game the last couple days with a friend who's played for years, and was really struggling to keep up in matches, even though I understood the basic principles of the game. Do you have any follow-up videos you would recommend to watch after this one i.e. intermediate guides, etc? Really liked all the info here, eager for more!

Here goes a couple tips to new players: 1. Okay, first of all, if you play ranked at some point after level 30, do yourself a favor and don't play a champion there for the first time. You'll perform way better with a champion you know how to play and know the limits of. 2. When I started playing alone (yes, some friends got me into the game), I'd get flamed (aka insulted, etc) by my team. Not by the enemies, by my team. Then I found out that besides muting everyone, you can go to one of the options of the game and turn off both chats entirely. Since then, I've started communicating with pings and I can focus on the game better because I don't have to read to people duking it out on chat for stupid reasons. I only activate it if I really, really need to tell them something important. Otherwise, pings. 3. Look at the map, it will give you tons of information. Also put a ward on the river to see the jungler coming. 4. Look at what the other team is building and adjust your items to fight them. To put an example, if they have a lot of healing, buy an item with antiheal, and so on.

This is a perfect beginners guide. This brought so much memories as i first started playing 7 years ago. I had 2 best friends who i played with the first 2-3 years. Me and one of the two were the beginners and the third one was gold at the time. He was so anoyed that we sucked so much😅😅, but it was also so much fun and he explained everything to us. Unfortunately i am the only one left playing and we dont speak anymore with eachother beacuse life took its turns. Those times were so much fun. For New Players: this game can be very toxic and overwhelming but its also one of the best games out there. Have fun, play with friends and make memories. League of legends comunity is one of its kind and you wont regret joining it….or maybe you will sometimes 😂😂

This of course depends on preferences and what kind of keyboard you are using, but I think that ALT is better for normal casting than SHIFT, because it allows you to normal cast moving your thumb from space bar to one button left, which most players find more convenient. :)

Ok, probably dumb question but why do fighters and tanks go in toplane, mages and assassins go in midlane, and ADCs and supports go in botlane, as opposed to fighter mid, mage bot, and ADC support top? What inheritance advantages do these classes have in these lanes?

If you are entirely new to jungle... *DO NOT PLAY MASTER YI.* *DISCLAIMER* This is entirely my opinion, so feel free to disagree or touch up on anything I missed. In addition, you can climb with ANY CHAMPION in the game, as long as you have SOLID FUNDAMENTALS. So Master Yi is fine, just not optimal in my opinion. While Yi scales hard into the late game as a power farming hyper carry, he teaches *bad habits* to newer players such as not looking at *lane states* (whereas Warwick's kit forces you to look for gank options) and power farming while hoping your teammates don't feed. *Ganking is super important* from the perspective of the jungler, because *jungle camp gold and xp is a particularly slow way* to get items, especially if you're not pathing well or kiting efficiently. However, ganking is incredibly difficult--especially for newer players--if neither the jungler nor the laner has any form of *crowd control,* and Yi does not. Furthermore, if Yi doesn't get a lead in the early game, he can and will be *punished* by more experienced junglers, preventing him from reaching his powerspikes. (Although when I first started jungling, playing Master Yi, I didn't need anyone to shut me down. I ended up shutting myself down.) Master Yi is a really strong champion in the right hands (and against the right kind of players), but *should not* be the way one is introduced to the jungle. In my opinion, *tank junglers* are some of the easiest to play when learning due to their simple kits, reliable crowd control, and survivability in teamfights (such as Zac, Rammus, Nunu and Amumu), though their *initial jungle clears* may not be as healthy as Warwick's (unless you're playing Nunu). *Beginner bruiser junglers* include Vi, Jarvan IV (who typically builds tank items), and Hecarim. *Beginner assassin junglers* (might) include Kha'zix, Ekko, and (regrettably) Master Yi. (Although assassins are usually a harder class to play.) I'd *stay away* from *mages and marksmen* in the jungle, because they're typically niche picks that, like assassins, are harder to play. I'd also avoid support junglers such as Ivern because they have such a *unique* style of play that it becomes difficult to translate those jungling skills to other champions. *Early game junglers* such as Elise and Rek'Sai will typically be some of the more *mechanically demanding* champions to play. Not only that, but their playstyle is very *dynamic* and can be a bit overwhelming for new junglers. Furthermore, you'll need to know how to close out games quickly in order to dominate with these picks, so most people will introduce new junglers to champions that scale well into the late game such as (here it comes) Master Yi. Note: Man, I wish Xin Zhao had a better place in the meta so that there could be a viable early game jungler that wasn't so mechanical. Sad.

This was actually really beneficial. I'm new so for my first week I'm sticking to just fighting bots until I'm sure I can duke it out real time. Currently starting with Mordekaiser for top, warwick for jungle, and kindred for ADC. If someone has any suggestions, I'd welcome them! May God bless you all 🙏

kindred is kinda a jungle champion bcs of her passive which u need to kill a certain jungle camp that gets marked by the passive to get extra stats so playing her adc isnt the best idea

I like just started playing back in the beginning of 2021 but then stopped for many months. The last game I played was quite a long one. It was looking very grim for us and I honestly thought we weren't going to win. But our teammate playing as Sona came in clutch and kept us all alive as we pushed in mid. We ended up winning after a very long battle. Without her we wouldn't have won I guarantee that.

I went into my first game after completing the tutorial and immediately saw chat messages telling me to go 'bot lane'. So I straight-up alt-tab'd mid game and pulled up Google to figure out wtf bot lane was. By the end of the game, I was feeling pretty content with my performance as I saw on the scoreboard that I had 7 kills and a positive k/d ratio, only it turns out I had been looking at the enemy team's Lux and I in-fact only had 1 kill with many, many deaths. I never thought a top-down point and click game would be so ridiculously complex, keep in mind I was coming from Overwatch where probably the most difficult aspect of the game is trying not to uninstall it lmao.
