@@JulesBurt thanks, Jules, sorry to put you at my age, just a wild guess based on what you were saying about the books. I remember watching BP from around 1969, aged 5, to 1979, aged fifteen. I have quite a few of the books, including the 1964 one (my birth year). I'm keen to have the 'Behind The Badge' book now, after your showcasing it so well. All the best, Tim ☺️

many thanks for your review. I grew up watching Blue Peter my years were from 1968 onwards and still occasionally watch, so my presenters go back to Val Singleton John Noakes and Peter Purves although I was aware of Christopher Trace the very first male presenter, they used to talk about the things he did after he left. Like you I have the full collection of books from book one to forty and the 50th Anniversary book. I had them given to me from Book ten onwards the rest like you I have picked up from jumble sales or online book shop and found like you the very first one was the most expensive. after about book 15 the ones I liked where the birthday books which celebrated the 20th Birthday book Sixteen which actually features the very first presenters before the books started Christopher Trace & Leila Williams who was Miss Great Britain 1957 and the 20th book which celebrated 25 yrs of the programme and has pictures of the original presenters and the 35th and 40th Birthdays. Richard Marson book is also brilliant especially as I said the pieces on the original presenters and Anita West the lost presenter who wasnt recoginised as a BP presenter until the 40th Birthday. I will be 57 next month wonderful memories thanks again.

Thanks Stephen, yes, a superb series and these books have a special place in my collection. Mine certainly aren't mint and most could be upgraded but it's the content that's so nostalgic, especially the ones from book 7 to 20 for me 🙂

Thanks for flicking through these at a gentle pace. I was able to read article headings, though I didn't manage to spot what I was looking out for. I think I learned about 'second cousins' and 'first cousins twice removed' etc. from a Blue Peter book. Recently I've wanted to try to find the article but didn't know where to start. Do you know what book it's in? 1968-78 era.

This is a nice video. Not an annual, eh? It's like the Queen' (or now King's) speech, which is not actually a speech, but a message. I remember BP from the Noakes-Purvis-Singleton era until I lost interest, probably in my mid-teens. But I never got a Blue Peter Book at Christmas. I think I must have been the only kid in the country who didn't get one because, as you say, they are so common.

They are indeed common, hard to find in top condition though. My era was Pieces, Noakes and Judd👍

@@JulesBurt In a strange way, I actually like it when the things I collect show a little bit of wear and tear (within reason). As a parent, I know that the only books/toys that my kids didn't tear, dent, bend, break, scrawl on etc. were the ones that they had no interest in.
