Its actually practically Canon that tengen was imitating rengoku a little. From the moment he met him tengen admired him whole heartedly, he idolised rengoku despite being both older and a hashira before him

I'm like, 80% sure that both Inosuke and Tengen whipping out the "I'm immune to poison" card was bluffing in both cases, since Gyutaro's poison is part of his Blood Demon Art and thus completely unnatural. Also, I love Tengen's face right before that last charge! You can tell he's high out of his mind on an adrenaline rush!

Lots of people who react to Gyutaro taking Ume to hell with him saying why didn’t they just go to heaven together, they BOTH devoured humans and they wouldn’t have a chance to go to heaven. Just like how Rui wasn’t able to go to heaven with his parents so they decided to go to hell with him instead, the demons who have devoured human flesh won’t be able to go to heaven. This will be touched on later in the series as well, especially in the final arc.

@@bubbalubber It’s harder to recognize but the more you look at the mannerisms and speech of the demon you can tell pretty much how old they are, specifically for demons like Daki and Rui. Daki constantly boasts about being strong and pretty but will blindly search for approval through either Muzan or Gyuutaro. However when she’s out of her league or talked down upon, she throws a tantrum and cries. It’s also the reason why she was able to go to heaven when she died because she was just a child manipulated into that life, which is why she appears as a little girl in death while Gyuutaro stayed a demon.

The swordsman who appeared in that flashback that Daki had was not the samurai who burnt her. She had memories of fire when Nezuko used her Blood Demon Art, Burning Blood against her. Daki remembered when she was nearly killed. But the swordsman was from Muzan's memories, not hers. When she saw him, she said, "This isn't me. These aren't my memories. The cells! Master Muzan!" The cells that he puts in every demon's body apparently contain some memories, too. Tanjiro and that swordsman are not related. The swordsman's name is Yoriichi. He actually was the only Demon Slayer who nearly killed Muzan, resulting in him having horrifying memories of almost being killed. Yoriichi was good friends with one of Tanjiro's ancestors, and gave him the earrings Tanjiro wears. They were passed down all the way to Tanjiro. When Tanjiro says similar words to Daki, she unlocks the memories of Yoriichi, but realizes they aren't hers. Yoriichi was alive years and years before Daki existed. So her remebering him is impossible.

The person in the memory Daki had was tanjiro's ancestor. It was Muzan's memory, I'm pretty sure she said something like "This isnt my memory" After it plays. Also the fire is hell and the light is heaven, he didnt go towards heaven because its not what ge deserves and he knows it. He tried to change his sister's mind to go to heaven without him, but she wouldnt so he had to take her with him. Sorry if that made no sense.

Daki and Gyutaro are basically joint uppermoon 6. Daki isn't weak, she's just immature due to her being mentally 13. She wouldn't be an uppermoon if she was on a lowermoon power scale.

When it comes to how DS almost always shows the sad demon backstory when they die, I actually think it’s less to make us “feel bad” and more to show us why they are the way they are, and how they got there. Sure it’s becoming a trope, but I think it’s an effective storytelling strategy for DS that shows us that bad things can happen to all kinds of people, and it’s the decisions we make with those things that determines whether we do good things, or become a “demon”. And! The uppermoon sibling backstory is (kind of) a mirror to nezuku and tanjirou’s backstory, in the sense that both could have gone off the deep end, you know? I mean, it seems like a lot of people forget or ignore the fact that tanjirou literally tried to kill tomioka the first time they met, and sure it was to save nezuku but the fact he is willing to go this far rather than talk it out? I mean, tanjirou hates hurting people, he hates killing demons and finds it hard to do, yet for his sister, his only family left, he isn’t hesitant to take of and jump to the deep end The same way gyutaru jumped at the first opportunity to save his sister The only real big difference is this : tanjirou had someone on the good side to help him, gutaru had someone on the bad side to do I mean, i wholeheartedly believe that if if the situation flipped, tanjirou too won’t hesitate to become a demon if it meant saving his sister, sure he will hate killing people but if it comes to it, _he will_ .

What's so good about Danny's uncertainty of Tengen's fate is that him surviving was foreshadowed in the OP. In Mugen Train's OP, Rengoku and Tanjiro are shown moving in opposite directions, while in this season's OP, Tengen and Tanjiro move in the same direction, implying that while Rengoku would sadly part from Tanjiro's life, Tengen would remain in the world for a while longer.

I agree with your thoughts on rengoku in that I think he did all he could really do and that him dying was the best way to end it off since I think that to keep him alive and yet still an interesting character they would have had to really push him to his limits and push his resolve to its absalout breaking point but to do that effectively would have just taken to long and lessened the impact he had on tanjiro in mugen train.

All of this!! As much as it broke me, I like the fact that Rengoku died because: • it showed that this isn't a franchise where the characters are going to win all the time. These are life or death fights • Hashira are insanely skilled, but still human • Rengoku losing to an upper 3, leading to the gang going through hell to win against the upper 6 duo sets up so much hype for when they see Akaza again

I know this is old and you've probably been told already but the character from 23:34 isn't Tanjiro's dad. It's the Sun Breathing user that almost took Muzans life. Tengen and Rengoku were actually close friends and Tengen greatly looked up to Rengoku, considering Rengoku to be "even flashier than himself". But ultimately, Tengen is the middling Hashira. He knows this too. He can't be naturally powerful like Rengoku. He can't be a natural talent like Muichiro. Nor the enigmatic bulwark like Gyomei. He wasn't a Tsuguko like Misturi or Shinobu. Tengen is a dude who really just barely made it to being a hashira and wants to be something better than a lowly murderer like he was as a ninja. Tengen isn't this big brother figure that Rengoku was. He is really just a protagonist that's a little farther along in his story than the main trio. I think that's why I like him though. He's more human and dynamic than Rengoku. The fact that he is more docile around his wives also suggests his whole flashiness may be just an act to inspire confidence in himself, as he doesn't seem to think he belongs among the others.
