Galen can be a little bit of a pain but if you don't try hovering on a wayshrine, you can zoom in. I notice that tends to be the problem with the size. The wayshrine offputs the cursor just enough to be just off the edge

Honestly the zone questline should matter more than what dungeons are there since most of the time, we just play dungeons from group finder. Public dungeons are a better criterion. Like how awesome were Orcrest and Rimmen Necropolis!? I think rivenspire is a great example of the story point. Fantastic story that has huge impact on future chapters and very memorable characters and locations, despite being a fairly bland zone overall. Also I feel like memorable world bosses and world events and maybe to a lesser extent delves should've been a criterion as well. And ranking summerset as a zone not in S tier because of a skill line doesn't seem like a zone related thing...? If you think about it it's one of the only three with its own skill line, and bigger than TG and DB zones. Easy S cmon

Very surprised to see how little each zone's questline and general writing mattered in the ranking. As someone who plays ESO mostly for the lore, stories & questing content, I would've loved to hear you talk more about each zone's main and side questlines, at the very least. Good stories have really made some relatively forgettable zones very memorable for me.

Valenwood isn't meant to be easily traversed. I think traversal and sets is a terrible way to judge zones

Actually a good point! I was going to post a comment questioning how Alik'r can be difficult to traverse because it's literally a giant, open sandbox and you can see pretty far into the distance. It's super easy to get around there. Zones with more plants/objects in the way, blocking your line of sight, are harder to navigate, not to mention those with cliffs, large blockades, and so on. North Elsweyr is notoriously bad in that aspect, but it is also GORGEOUS and unique. So honestly I don't mind the slight navigational struggle.

@The Goat of Cyrodiil also Malabal tor has the best night time ambiance of any zone, the tall grahtoaks ontop of steep shoreline cliffs, and beyond the plateau the windy trails through the thick forrest canopy lit only by fireflies and the moons that shine through - all you hear is jungle sounds and it's easily tranquil

Agree with most of it, but Summerset has got to be S tier imo. Not only aesthetically pleasing, but arguably the most impactful expansion in the game. Jewelry crafting, Cloudrest trial sets, Psijic order skill line (agree that it’s annoying to level), psijic portals, 2 new foods: arteum pickled fish bowl and takeaway broth), and probably other things I’m forgetting. So many things that remain relevant and impactful.

Definitely not meaning to disrespect your criteria for ranking, but for me, the biggest impact zones had were in their zone main storyline quests, side quests, lore building, and notable characters. Those things are what stick in my mind years and years later, whereas I can't even remember where probably 2/3 of dungeons and trials are located. I do agree quality overland sets play a role, since that may make you play in a zone more frequently doing the grind to get your pieces. But yeah seeing Rivenspire, the Black Marsh zones, and a couple of the Valenwood/Summerset zones get "meh" rankings definitely made me /sadface!

Summerset is not S tier becuese Psijic Order skillline takes a long time to level up? The fact they added a new skilline with some useful skills makes it an amazing zone

Summerset has to be an S tier to me. Jewelry crafting, amazing new buff foods, Artaeum is an amazing resource/antiquity grind spot, Alinor is an excellent hub with all daily quests and crafting stations located close together. Wrothgar I mostly agree with but as a dailies grinder it’s so annoying that the delve daily is in a completely different town than the world boss daily.

Love seeing Wrothgar get some love, it's my favourite zone. Murkmire had an excellent story, so it'd be a B for me. Malabal Tor and Coldharbour are an easy D tier, for me.

Easily the most annoying environment to traverse is Elseweyr. The dragon event was a nightmare to go and kill dragons throughout the world. I wish we put more of the zone story in the ranking.

I know you weren't ranking by story, but i'm a lore junky and the stories/lore is arguably my favorite parts of many of the zones. Seeing Rivenspire get a low rank was a stab in the chest lol, I know traversal was tough and the zone can be kind of bland, but I will never forget Rivenspire's story with the Doomcrag. It's honestly wildy underrated, I recommend any new player plays Rivenspires story at least once.

I liked the Galen area a lot and would probably rank it at A, the map part to teleport is really annoying so thats why I started clicking on the zone area names on the right side of the map! Easiest way to get to zone maps

I don't really care about the Sets, the Dungeons (although some of them are cool), the Trials or the Skill Lines. What matters's to me is Overall look and story of the zones. With that in mind, my top five favorite zones are. 5. Eastmarch. 4. Glemumbra. 4. Auridon. 2. Gold Coast. 1. Summerset.

Murkmire is aesthetically one of the most memorable zones by far. No other has as much colour and different sounds as it. If you are someone that just wants European medieval times feel, than yeah it is probably too different for you.

I am kind of shocked you wouldn't include zone story as criteria, to me that is way more impactful and important than how easy it is to traverse. I mean, I agree that Coldharbour is maybe the worst zone in the game that I have seen for traversal, but the impact in the zone story makes it very memorable. Edit: I just heard your reasoning as to why not to use zone story and that makes sense, it would be hard to remember them if I had played that long. Personally, it is the only reason I play the game so it's more important to me.

Bankgorai is annoying to traverse sometimes, but i think it should be higher than be because it has some unique questing, with spy/disguise quests being used to a decent level of depth

Malob Tor is the most difficult to traverse. Its split into 4 different sections. The southern part is at a significantly different elevation. The western part is split in the middle by a fairly large mounting, and the eastern part is split by a river. Sure it has a major road running thru it, but you can't venture too far off that without getting stuck

Even though it is a zone usually done first or very early, khenearthis roost is 100% my favourite zone. I don’t really know why. There are so many other awesome zones but i just always see myself wanting to go back there

Deadlands? I don't even remember ever going there. Where is it? Murkmire and Morrowind are my favourite zones. I like Wrothgar but I have never completed the zone. It always created problems with all the video cards I've had (artifacting like crazy).

I looked over your vids from the last couple of months, do you have any recommendations for mods that you wouldn't do without? QoL, PVP, PVE Crafting et.c? I found ESO colour palette a little muted, even drab at times, so I found a package with Reshade and haven't looked back. Every zone is more vibrant without being over saturated IMO. Auridon is now the land of forever spring, not the end of winter, win!. Then I discovered Foundry Tactical Combat, map cheats [cough] ... the list goes on and on, but do you have a top 10 perhaps you wished the Devs put in as standard?

Well i think we schould have let trials and dongeon out of the question. Focus on public dongeon and delve. Also what and how is scryable in the zone. What kind of drop u get (painting/special furnishing) and what is easy to traverse? Because for me Wrothgar was cancer to traverse. Is it positionning of the way shrine? Also u get style and aestitic... For me its the same. I would have consider the city in the ranking. Like how its position, because Daggerfall is the actual worst city for utility but Rimmen is very simple to use. I like the idea to rank the zone but i think ur idea need polyshing a little. To much hogwart legacy brah 😂

I get why you didn't use story but it has to a key criteria especially for PvE players. Story and characters played a huge role for me. Some stories are great. Other less so. I liked northern elswyers storyline for example so for me that bumps up the zone

Coldharbour is by far the most annoying zone in the game to get around and the sets are trash. F tier! Deshaan is a great zone for farming gear that you can sell and there is even people at dolmens at time.

eastmarch and the rift is at least an A for me because of nostalgia points alone (played skyrim before ESO) and summerset for me is an easy S tier just because it is stunningly beautiful. But thats just me

Features like Companions or skills have an impact to the game. So, zones that add to it, like High Isle adding two Companions, should be ranked higher. Quest lines do a lot to impact style and atmosphere and weren’t honoured at all. Your choice of placing the terrain maps to the ranks is a bad one IMHO. I forget what they are as soon as you‘ve named them. While everything is your own opinion, I just think that the selection of criteria for ranking could have been better.

Cyrodiil and Imperial City are such different zones. Combining them is not practical. And they both have very impactful sets. IC has a beautiful dungeon with White Gold Tower.

I understand its your opinion but there was some things odd for me. First I know you dont like murkmire, but its actually a zone I bought mostly for flavour, dont know if it is the mesoamerican ruins that remember the neibour contries of where I live, the lore, nature or a mix, but I do love murkmire. I agree with the S tier you made just in my opinion all chapter except elsweir ( because I hate its cliffs ) should be there. As a side note the rift is memorable to me thanks to skyrim, its beauty, ease to travel, and complete unhinged madness from npcs but Especially players ( serious I dont know why riften seens to attract the weirdest chat but it does happens ). Oh and greenshade its my favorite AD zone because I like its vegetation.

is ESO a game one can play solo most of the time or is group play forced ? i like playing MMO's and enjoy hopping in the odd meta in gw2 or dungeon in wow but most days i prefer to do my own thing questing / dailies/ grinding whatever.. been looking at eso for a couple days now considering DL'ing it

I'm ok with you're rankings, you've played alot longer than I have. My only criticisms are I'd have put Norther Elsweyr in at the most C tier, it get double negative for me on traversing the zone. Also, The Rift to me is the most beautiful zone and it hurts to see it get a D :(. I'm kinda in agreement that dungeons could be left out and ranked separately since most of the time I don't even know what zone dungeons are from, lol. As always though, I enjoy your videos!

Gotta disagree with High Isle at B. Aesthetically it’s the most beautiful area in ESO (maybe alongside Summerset) and it’s theme is unique among eso so far. The Order’s Wrath set is still very usable and there’s good trial gear too, particularly Whorl of Depths. Main Quest is very good, side quests are great, druids are a nice touch and Amenos is a cool niche addition. Most importantly, I think the immersion and atmosphere is top class, you can just wander the city of Gonfalon or around the Island and really feel immersed. It’s gotta be at least A tier

Pretty cool list but dungeons/trials shouldnt be included. You go do those things specifically, not randomly while traversing the zone. Would have been much better to factor in the quests instead

Omg this. What’s his obsession with Imperials/Cyrodiil coz ???? Blackwood’s palette is brown, light brown, swamp green, and mud brown 💀 it’s just so ugly to me. I haven’t really been to Gold Coast although it doesn’t seem to be anything special but as soon as he put that into S tier as well I knew he must be an Imperial main or something. Elsweyr and Summerset are gorgeous, they make it clear that 2018-2019 was when ZOS’s ESO team peaked with world design. Started going downhill after Skyrim. Makes me think that if Covid didn’t happen we’d have a completely different game right now
