I’ve always thought I was a centre back and people say I’m a great central defender, but my friends also say I’m really good at playing striker. I’m kind of overweight but also really muscular for my age and really tall and big. Idk whether to switch positions or to stay as a defender. My strong points are: Physicality: strength and aerial battles Vision: Shot power Defending Commanding Positioning (good at both types but mostly defensive) and volleys Which position should I be (or should I stay as centreback) (Also I’m not really fast)

No problem! And i’m going to do more videos on different formations and in one of those I’ll cover the second striker in more detail. But basically the second striker is a mix between a 10 and a 9. Basically they’re more of a deep lying striker meaning they play behind the 9 and their main job is to spot passing lanes and play passes into the 9 to help them score while also scoring themselves. Does that make sense?

Hmm well depending on the team you’re playing for wingers generally have to do more defensive work and will need to run a lot more up and down the field whereas strikers generally don’t do as much defensive work…also wingers often get the ball more and get to dribble and build up play so if you like to be on the ball and dribble at defenders then that might be the way to go…regardless both are great positions and might make sense to try out both to see which you like more!

Classically, five and six are the centre back numbers in England with four being the defensive midfielder. I'm also not sure why you have two on the left and three on the right when it's typically the inverse. Regardless, this is a great video for people new to the sport. For such a simple game, there's a load of jargon that gets thrown around and can make things seem more complicated than they actually are.

So they’re actually very similar but one of the main differences is sometimes wingers have more offensive responsibilities while wide midfielders may be required to take on more defensive responsibilities…I am going to go over different formations where I cover this in more detail so stay tuned for that.

Haha great question! Tbh I haven't watched Messi as much with Inter Miami but for Barcelona under Pep is when I'd say he moved to that false 9 role where he would drop into midfield a lot to pick up the ball. I would consider a false 9 a mix between a striker and a 10. It's not quite a 10 because the 10 has 1 or 2 striker ahead of them to play through balls to whereas the false 9 IS the lead striker. It's just that they drop back between the lines to pick up the ball which then creates space up top for teammates to run into. Does that make sense?

A second striker is a striker that is positioned slightly behind the number 9/center forward…it’s very similar to an advanced attacking midfielder as they basically assist the number 9 and help them score while also scoring themselves. They’re often used in a 4-4-2 formation…does that help? Any other questions?
