I’m in San Antonio and have 2 in clay soil and haven’t grown much at all in about a year. About to add compost.

My grandma had this, or somthing very similar, in her yard in Vegas. Every fall it would be smothered in bees and butterflies.

Thanks for the video on Fall Aster. I have several plants, and they are blooming right now. Do you have a video on Gregg's Blue Mist? I would love to see one.

Hi Cory. I too live in the SA area. What nursery did you find your fall aster at? Now I want to grow some. 😊
@CoryAmesYT3 ай бұрын
We've had this fall aster for ~3 years now. Bought it at Rainbow Gardens I'm pretty sure. I'd assume their bandera location because that's close to us. Up to you, but if you're patient (I'm normally not 🤪), buy enough for one planting location, 3, 5, or 7 depending on your space, and that ONE location will then support wherever you want to transplant new ones in your landscape as soon as year 2! Good luck! Not positive that Rainbow Gardens has any right this second, worth a phone call beforehand. Cheers, -Cor0

What is basil rosette?
@CoryAmesYTАй бұрын
good question. For practical purposes, it's the part of the stem essentially before there are any offshoots for blooms. does that make sense? For a fall aster, that's near the ground.
@MissPiggyLilly3 ай бұрын
Does it just bloom once. Or is it continuously blooming into winter?
@jrkorman2 ай бұрын
We're a bit north of Abilene, TX and ours lasted barely 2 weeks. We still have a very few flowers left on the plants.
@MissPiggyLilly2 ай бұрын
@ I was hoping it would be a continuous bloom thru fall. I'm in San Antonio. I put in 6 and a couple of them have just a couple of flowers.
@jrkorman2 ай бұрын
@@MissPiggyLilly I transplanted some of my MILs plants to our garden. It took about 3 years to really start producing a great number of flowers. Part of that was the rather severe drought and 100+ temperatures all summer, two of those years. Last year they did well, this year very well!

Personally, year 3 is the golden year. My fall asters are ~4 years in, doing very well. But I really don't remember them doing that well in years 1 or 2.
@@CoryAmesYT they looked barefoot, but couldnt tell what brand. I have a pair of vivos and like them alot. My Wildlings are my favorite though
@CoryAmesYT3 ай бұрын
@@siredc4182 never tried those! I'll have to check them out. I do love my vivos though. I'd buy the pair I wore in that video again when they wear out. haha
