Great guide ! the rules in the book they gave you are awesome except for when you play 2 players with grey beard if grey beard leads with a tigress they dont say anything in the book about if its a pirate or escape so we flip a coin. we use a pirate coin token

The latest rule book PDF update on their web site now says that Graybeard always plays the Tigress as an escape card.

It's a great video introducing the skull king rules. The rules state that if you play the Kraken and white whale at the same trick, the second is functional. I think it means the second card works as its function instead of winning the tricks. Also, if a kraken is played, the person who would have won the trick had the kraken not been played leads the next trick. 😊

small doubt: if I play a black card as the first player, the second player must play it if he has black, right? can they only play other colors if they don't have the right black? special cards are no exception.

Hi ! really nice video I must say :D ! question for you if possible: I just started playing the game 2 weeks ago, and after several games I wanted to know, if I was not the one that decides the suit to follow in the trick (not first player in the round), and on my hand I have cards that match the suit, but instead I decide to use the Trump suit (black flag), do I have a malus or something ? (losing points, or anything to my scoring ? ) I couldnt find anything regarding that possibility in the rule book. I mean, I know I should follow the trick by putting a card that matches the suit the first player put, but what happens to me if I dont do it ? thanks for the answer :D !

Thank you! So regardless of the order they are played, if all 3 end up in the same trick (Skull King, Mermaid, Pirate), then the Mermaid will win!! I hope this helps! If you have any follow up questions, let me know!

I ordered the new version. I have a question. A player gets 30 pts for every pirate taken with skull king. Does it only count the pirates in taken in that particular trick? Or do I examine my card pile at the end of the round and check if I have the skull king which makes all my pirates (from any trick in that round) worth 30pts? Edit: fixed a word

Hi, great question!! So yeah you only get points for the ones you take in that specific trick. You will need to remember how many pirates were in that trick and you won’t count any other ones. I hope this helps, but if you have any other questions, please let me know! Hope you have a great day!

If playing with a full 8 players as the newest version allows, what's the best way to deal with not having enough cards to deal 10 to each player? If we used all the loot and optional cards we could get to 9 cards per player. I may have missed in the rules if there was a suggestion to skip the 10-card round(s).

The rules say to deal only 8 cards per player in rounds 9 and 10.

With grapeshot, your potential score is 10 times the round number. You get the full points if you get your bid exactly right, half points if you're off by one, and no points if you're off by more than one. With cannonball, your potential score is 15 times the round number, but you MUST get your bid exactly right; off by one and you get nothing.
