1.. Been a Marriott fan since the late 90's. Great synopsis on all the Marriott brands, thank you! 2. Springhill Suites in Old Montreal is still one of my favorite hotels to stay in! 3. One thing to note about Residence Inns is you only get HALF the Marriott Bonvoy points from the other Marriott properties, so be aware of that!

I am a titanium memer and working on getting the lifetime status. I travel a lot for educational conferences. I do appreciate that the Marriott chain has what I need depending on the type of travel I am doing. I do often bring my mom along when I go to conferences, as she's retired and likes to travel. In that instance, I enjoy getting the two bedroom suites at the Residence Inn. When traveling alone, I prefer the Marriott and JW Marriotts. I feel that these are the most consistent for me on my business travel.

I used to work at a Ritz-Carlton and it is definitely an acquired older luxury style taste even with the more renovated modernized properties. You either love it or it’s like eh not worth the money. It’s a very niche culture working there and/or being a guest there and has quite a cultish following of people that will ONLY stay at a Ritz-Carlton no matter what other nice hotels are around lol. It was definitely a unique and wonderful experience in which I have no regrets. Great covering of the Marriott brands, you’re super spot on!! 👍🏽

I stayed at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay and it felt stuffy. My husband and I own timeshares with Marriott Vacation Destinations and Hyatt Residence. I worked for Marriott for 20 years on Maui. We’re Lifetime Platinum and almost Lifetime Titanium and Globalist with Hyatt.

We stayed at the Marriott Park Lane - it was a beautiful hotel, great location, incredible staff, and the executive lounge was fantastic. Stayed there 5 nights using points - sometimes they treat you different using points, but we noticed no difference. Interesting that was one of your favorites - it is definitely one of ours. And your pronunciation of Marriott is spot on - I got to meet the two brothers when they made a donation to the University I was attending - and I asked them - they said "Marry It". Good overview.

I agree that Ritz carlton is a bit stuffy. Nice pristine luxurious interior design and service, but the atmosphere and culture there is so exclusionary that it can be overwhelming for those not used to it. No one treated us badly, but i could tell in the air the whole attitude was, "you're lucky you even get to be here". St. Regis, which I've never stayed in, sounds a bit overwhelming as well. The way I see it, you got point farmers (Courtyard/four points/springhill/fairfield), extended stays (Residence inn, element), upscale/enjoy yourself a bit (JW marriott, marriott, sheraton, Westin), boutique adventure (autograph collection), and nightclub (W). When I want to enjoy myself a bit, I generally prefer 4 star resorts because after my experience with Ritz Carlton, I'm a bit reluctant to roll the dice on 5 star hotels again, because when I go the extra mile, i just don't need that old school stuffy exclusionary style of luxury "attitude" getting in the way. I just want to enjoy the experience and savor it without worrying if i need to be wearing a top hat, penguin suit, monocle, and have a valet for the Rolls Royce Phantom.

Very informative. I became a Marriott Bonvoy member 2 years ago. I recently stayed at the Courtyard King Kamehameha Hotel on the Big Island. A very clean and large recently renovated room. A little pricey because Hawaii is getting very popular again but the best option in Kailua Kona. Also, excellent fast elevators...never more than a 10-15 second wait. My pet peeve is slow, outdated elevators. Finally, of all the major hotel websites, Marriott is my favourite no contest. Intuitive and easy to use and my points are updated promptly. Accor is confusing, I had to a send them an email 2 weeks after my stay for them to credit my points.

As a Bon Voy member we've stayed at many hotels. In Oahu, we love the Ritz-Carlton Residences. We've stayed in 2 different rooms and both were great. We've also stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki. We like the location. The one you really liked, Moana, is one we didn't care for Great location but the walls in the historic "OLD" rooms are paper thin. We thought our neihbor was going to cough up a lung. We went into a newer room and it was better. LIVE the Autograph in Daytona!! Rooms are really nice and restaurant food is yummy. Service could not be better!! We also enjoy the Gaylord Palms in Orlando. Our granddaughter loves the water park. If you plan to eat there, have good walking shoes. The atrium is a great treat. Great info!

We’re doing a hotel block at the Residence Inn in downtown Omaha for our wedding. Super cool property in the old Federal Building downtown. Stayed there for a week in 2020 when the family had Covid. Best hotel breakfast and views of downtown Omaha. Swanky for a 3 star hotel and very affordable.

This is a very informative video especially considering the fact that I became a Marriott Bonvoy member a couple months ago & will be using/consider using Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn & Townplace Suites for trips to Portland, LA & Vancouver BC in the next year. When it comes to Courtyard (the only brand I have stayed at so far) I have noticed that the quality along with the price can vary depending on location. For example, the Courtyard hotels by my house in Seattle are pricey but don't have the quality that you would expect from that brand although a new one just opened a few months ago in the Northgate area (North Seattle) by the light rail station that looks really nice. Contrast this with the ones I have been searching down in LA where the quality of the hotel seems to match with the price point they are asking you to pay. I will likely stay at SpringHill Suites if I plan on staying at any Marriott branded hotels in the future based on your review. Thanks for the content you produce as it is very useful.

I'm new to the brand, but I noticed that when you are making a reservation, you click on points but its not like Hilton where you can see the rate and the points required for the stay. Also we like to stay on the bottom floors but I did not see anywhere to request this when booking. I would like to know more about booking and how to's thank you Chris

Marriott isn't what they used to be... I used to feel special when staying there, now rewards members treatment is hit/miss. It used to be "Welcome Mr. X, thank you for being a rewards member. Let's see about a room upgrade..." They don't always greet you anymore. Then some aren't doing upgrades and they make you feel like an elitist when you ask. It went from feeling special to getting shot-down...",we don't do upgrades, but if you want to pay for one..." I used to stay at Marriott brands 9/10 times. Last few years it has switched to maybe 2/10 times. I now book all my hotels via online 3rd party sites. 1 free night for every 10 stays. I now stay in any hotel brand. Marriott brands are charging for parking now. Stayed at the Residence Inn in Tustin. Got charged $12/night to park in a strip mall shared with FedEx and Starbucks. One in Bakersfield gave me free parking for my Bonvoy status, but most won't. I discovered at Waikiki that Resort & Spa's do not have lounges.😁 I got asked to leave the lobby of the Ritz once because I was in a T-shirt.🤣 The HK JW lounge has the best croissants ever!! JWs in Asia are the best! Calamansi is a tiny lime (looks like Mexican limes) that has tons of seeds for such a small fruit.🤣 Philippines use a lot of them. I stayed at an AC in Spain...can't recommend it. Are lounges back? Went away during pandemic. Renaissance is great! HK, Vancouver. Both are awesome.

W Bali is incredible so is the one in W Melbourne & W Brisbane! Very modern, fun and different from the old and stuffy service! Love the Young and Young at Heart guests. W targets artistic, creatives, entrepreneurs, musician's, athlete's (FUEL), foodies (FUEL) and people who are tech savvy. Marriott are trying to be more green and try to avoid overloading the room with small plastic amenities. Just ask if you need them.

I missed the live but was wondering if you could help me with a question. I got status last year and have 5 suite night rewards. I have an idea to try and use at TownePlace suites or residence inn to try and get a 2-3 bedroom suite for a trip with the family. Have you ever tried or heard of this strategy? Thanks.

Love your stuff @yellowproductions! I have just started a new job where I am traveling across the south US. In your experience what is the best "superbrand" to stay at? Who has the best rewards program? I already have 28 nights at Marriott and a couple at Hilton.

I think Hyatt has the best loyalty program... Globalist Status is amazing. Marriott is where I stay the "most" because they have so many hotels. Hilton is a distant 3rd.

Great video! Question…. I’m interested in upgrading my elite status, perhaps through the credit cards. You’ve previously mentioned that you have lifetime elite (titanium?), but still have all the credit cards? I’m not understanding how they still help you. Something about suite rewards?
@YellowProductions2 жыл бұрын
The credit cards give 1 free night every year.. which is well worth the $80 or $90 annual fee. I used one of those free nights on a residence Inn that usually goes for $350 a night
