I have been getting into *Fatal Fury* a lot, lately. It’s strange, because as soon as I started playing these games on my Switch, the new upcoming *Fatal Fury* was announced. I must have heard something about it and not realized it because I just started really playing out of nowhere, for the first time in 25 years, or so. I’ve always loved the Neo Geo, but *Samurai Shodown* was my “go-to” series, followed by *King of Fighters* . Until recently, the last time I played any *Fatal Fury* game was on my SEGA Saturn and Dreamcast. I thought my interest was sparked when they rereleased *SVC Chaos SNK vs. Capcom* , but I may have heard something about a new *Fatal Fury* on PS5. I don’t know what caused my interest to resurface, but I don’t really care. I’m just happy that I have gotten back into this classic series. As always, your deep dive into these games is outstanding. I appreciate everything you put out. You do so much work and it shows just how much you care about classic games. You’re not just a KZbinr, you’re an archivist. People like you (and there are very few) are the ones that keep retro games alive. The information you provide is so important because you not only remind us of all these past gems, you also introduce a new generation to what we were all fortunate enough to grow up with. You are the only one that I say it correctly on the release to the west Fatal Fury Mark of the Wolves. The reason the name didn't change. It was do to SNK having money problem. They didn't had the time to change the name in regions. So the name Garou stayed. However once SNK was able to release the game on the Sega Dreamcast. The name change to Fatal Fury Mark of the Wolves. The newer game is Fatal Fury City of the Wolves. They don't even say Garou 2. Because the game is suppose to be a fatal ury game. I like Mark of the Wolves. But I wish the ability to move to the background or frontground came back. I miss doing that in Fatal Fury. I get it. It is much easiar to work in just 1 grand and just focus balance for the game.

In my opinion, Street Fighter 2 and the original Fatal Fury, while the SNK game was a decent game, Street Fighter 2 was a more solid game. Fatal Fury was a good game, but Street Fighter 2 was the "better" game. Street Fighter 2: 10/10 perfect score Fatal Fury 1: 8/10 overall a good score But if you also include Street Fighter 1 Street Fighter 1: 5/10 Then things seem to be more fair.

I am an absolute fan of the king of fighters saga, and I love snk in its pixel art era. But I have never tolerated the displacement towards the background in the installments of fatal fury, I hated that the characters went to a distant plane that does not contribute anything, and only spoiled the experience. There has never been a fatal fury that I could enjoy because of that annoying form of gameplay.
