Flying Scotsman has officially reached 100 mph, traveled to America and Australia, met S&A 750 and nsw 3801, made the longest nonstop run for a steam engine, and yet has never met America’s most famous steam locomotive, Union Pacific 844.

For the Australian leg, also met R707 and R761 (the latter famously derailed at Seymour while shunting)

Flying Scotsman is a very important engine who he not brings people in his home country but the entire world because of how famous he is. If it were not Alan Pegler, Sir William McAlpine and Doctor Tony Marchington dedication to save Flying Scotsman, Scot would not be here today. I hope Scot continues to run for an extremely long time.

I've especially wanted to mention that I personally love the famous locomotive designed by Sir Herbert Nigel Gresley known as the Flying Scotsman who'd been claimed to be 1 of the very 1st steam-driven railway locomotives on the L N E R to reach its 100 MPH top speed, and especially when it's completely obviously clear to be no secret that this famous locomotive with a total of 2 tenders instead of only 1 tender since the Other Railway has a LARGE lack of fuel for steam locomotives meaning Steamies were being sent to the scrapyard to get cut up into pieces by the Scrapper's torch, but the Flying Scotsman certainly was very lucky to have been preserved while apparently for another fact is basically that the Flying Scotsman had been mentioned to be known as Gordon's brother who's been 'round for an entire century! And so, I'd especially like to wish Gordon's brother a happy 100 straight years of service!

I've especially wanted to mention that I personally saw this very famous locomotive being featured in the movie from Thomas and Friends titled The Great Race when Thomas met him over @ the big station in Vicarstown as properly introduced by Gordon the Big L N E R class A0 pacific steam-driven railway express locomotive! I've especially wanted to kindly mention that I personally learned that he's ACTUALLY capable to travel long distances with his own 2 tenders!

Without wanting to sound like a know it all I would really suggest a read of Andrew Rodens book. I appreciate you’ve tried to condense 100 years of History into 20 minutes, but there are some interesting stories that you’ve left out. I do apologise for sounding negative because I do enjoy your content, but I do think you’ve left out some of the more interesting stories. 👍🏻

I am very happy I was there when Flying Scotsman was on the Keighly & Worth Valley Railway after the big restoration in 2016/2017 (can't remember exactly). Even was allowed in the cab for a brief moment, but way too many people to have my photo taken. Still own the soft cover book and gold coin that one could purchase to commemorate the event. The first class train ride behind this legendary loco that day is something I will remember all my life!

Took a criminally long time to settle down to watch 😬 Very great whistlestop diary of Scotsman's life The Australia bit was what had me most curious as beyond the occasional photos I knew next to nothing about its down under tour. Such a solid machine with a ton of stories under its non-existent belt for sure. Still no doubt an engine in my 'To See' list, something the pandemics had actually prevented me from doing

Wonderful look at a great locomotive. (Side note: Flying Scotsman didn't become an A3 until 1946, being renumbered 103. Then she was mad left hand drive in 1954....😉)

The reason why Flying Scotsman was renumbered 103 was because after the war, the LNER wanted to have a more logical numbering system. For, before 1946, the numbering system form 1924 was a mess. A reasonable one, but still a mess.

GWR Castle No. 4079 Pendennis Castle visited Australia before scotsman did 3. Do people even know how much of Flying Scotsman is original? She's had 13 boilers and 9 tenders.

As a long time lover and also a long time helper from days of market Overton Carnforth I am glad she has made it still aed to give her best for the crowds and enthusiasts lover her or hate her she is still a splendid example of 1930s technology some. Like the modernist cha ges others liked the retro look she required during the peglar time others like the 1950/1960's version I am really on the fence on this issue as I see the logic in both she is still the engine of great aesthetics and looks great at speed all the best to those who now look after her. Ay the rails be good to you for the next 100 years
