I adore this series and I genuinely think it’s largely because the care and effort you put in shines through. A little bit of perfectionism can be good, so long as it isn’t making you miserable. Art that means something will always be at least a bit of a struggle. Fighting a project isn’t a sign of failure or weakness, it’s usually a sign of growth. Thank you for making and sharing your work, it’s really inspiring. The Complete History is the first time I’ve really been able to learn this topic in a way that sticks. You have the ability to make all the content information dense but also engaging, which is rare. You’re an amazing teacher. Your videos have also had a personal effect for me…this is the first time that the previous mass extinctions have been put into a perspective I can comprehend.. and honestly it’s been a HUGE part of my learning to make peace with the current state of the world. So I’m deeply grateful for that. Sorry to be so verbose and maybe over the top, I just needed you to know that what you do and the care you put into it is a true gift to the world. Take care of yourself, take your time, keep it up. We’ll be here :)

While this is the late Triassic, I would just like to point out that if you stepped into the waters of the Chinle Formation, you would encounter 11 different species of Phytosaur with some of them like Redondasaurus becoming more terrestrial and being about as big as a Postosuchus, any of the three absolutely massive Smilosuchus species which are the first, second, and fourth largest phytosaurs to ever live dwarfing even the saltwater crocodile. Not to mention any of the other phytosaur species. On top of this you could also run into the 3 meter long amphibian Anaschisma. And finally on top of all of that there’s the otter sized Vancleavea. Needless to say how all of these species were able to coexist for some 20 million years astonishes me.

10:58 I would like to add on to your beautiful Futurama reference! Bender would most likely prefer keeping turtles over lizards. He has a soft spot for turtles because they remind him of his tough outer shell, rich inner life, and that he’s struggles to get up when he’s on his back like a turtle. Yes, I am an absolute nerd for the show and for Bender himself, why do you ask?

This series is exemplary of some of the best science communication that is physically possible on this platform. Never sacrificing content for humor or for sound bites, while simultaneously remaining fun and digestible. I think it takes a very specific personality and a well-honed set of skills to be able to relay the amount of information this series does without it turning into a slog of an info dump, and you do it flawlessly and expertly. For someone who doesn’t have a degree in life sciences but is slightly more knowledgeable that an average person, this show strikes the absolute perfect balance - I’m learning lots of things at a depth and breadth that mainstream documentaries don’t cover, but I don’t feel like I needed four courses of prerequisites to understand what’s going on. Just truly excellent. I very rarely contribute in online spaces, but this series made me subscribe to your patreon. You’re a goddamn inspiration sir.

I don't think you mentionned it, but i think it's in the Early triassic that the first bipeds appeared. And yes this gets more important in the middle/late triassic just like the Archosaurs, but since this is the first time our walking motion started on this earth, and how it changed literally everything about how predators worked in the years to come, i felt like it was important! Glad to see you back on the evolution path! Hopefully TimTim won't get eaten on the way there
